She was born on June 29, 1910. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clay and Eliza Howery Prillaman, six sisters, and five brothers. She is survived by one brother, T. Jack Prillaman and wife, Ruby, of Vinton; one sister, Irene P. Steppe of Lynchburg; and a sister-in-law, Ellen B. Prillaman of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor, Era K. Furrow of Callaway. She worked as a clerk in the Callaway stores for forty years and was a life-long member of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Piedmont Presbyterian Church by the Reverend David McCarty with interment at the Prillaman Family Cemetery in Callaway. Family will receive friends at the Flora Funeral Home, 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Piedmont Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main St., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. on January 1, 2005.2

Vaught, all of Vinton; his grandchildren, Brian Prillaman and wife, Nicole, Pamela Vaught, and Melissa Vaught Okes and husband, Andrew; and his great-grandson, Landon Okes. A service celebrating Jack's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jamie Smith officiating. Interment will be held in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. on April 2, 2013.3

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 25, 2008, and again from 11 a.m. until noon, Thursday, June 26, 2008, both days at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at noon, Thursday, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions be made to West Lynchburg Baptist Church, 3031 Memorial Ave., Lynchburg, Virginia. She retired from CSX Transportation after 42 years of service and was a former member of the Warwick Yacht and Country Club, the Lafayette Yacht Club, the former White Hall Club of Newport News and a former agent of Teagle Realty. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, former Newport News Baby Dodger, Clarence "Soddy" M. Groat, and her parents, Mawyer Prillaman and Ocie Guthrie Prillaman. Survivors include her son, Gil David Groat of Newport News; three sisters, Marion Dunbar, Letha Wrenn and Lois O'Connell, all of Hopewell; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The family received friends Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A service will be conducted by the Rev. Micki Vanderbilt and Father Peter Tran, at 3:30 p.m. today at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Peninsula Funeral Home. on October 4, 1999.3

She was a student of Double Springs School in Check and was employed for 40 years at Blue Ridge Overall Factory. She was a wonderful cook and hostess, and if you left her table hungry, it was your own fault. She was everyone's grandmother. Left to mourn her passing are one son, E.J. Clower and wife Deborah Shepherd Clower; daughter-in-law, Joyce Bledsoe Clower; two granddaughters, Kristina Clower and Kaitlin Clower; and one great-granddaughter, Hayley Sarver. She is also survived by James E. and Connie Martin, Vernon and Sandra Martin, Lena and Archie McAlexander, Ocie and Dalton Thompson, Jane Ernestine Nichols, Donna King, Stanley and Carol Clower, Opaldine and Donald Gearheart, and family and friends too numerous to mention. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. on July 25, 2011.2

Also surviving are sisters, Ocie Thompson, Lena McAlexander (Archie), Jane Ernestine Nichols; brothers, James Ernest Martin (Connie) and Vernon Martin (Sandra); two sisters-in-law, Evelyn King and Cigile Martin. Other survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Her greatest joys were keeping her grandsons, watching them grow into manhood, and seeing them happily married. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren, family reunions, and the many celebrations with her family throughout the years. Donna was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg where she worshipped until her health prohibited her attending. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. on January 10, 2018.3
