     John Lloyd Barbour Jr. John Lloyd "J L" Barbour Jr., went home to Heaven on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the age of 92. Burial in Guilford Memorial Park. JL was born in Johnston County to the late John Lloyd Barbour Sr. and Bertha Core Barbour. After his military service, he lived and raised his family in Greensboro, N.C. For the last 50 years, he was a faithful member of Trinity Church. He retired after more than 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He leaves behind the love of his life, Mary Conner Barbour. Their love story lasted 75 years. He leaves behind one brother, Heraldean (Phyllis) Barbour. (Ford) Mayhew, 82, of Vinton, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Mayhew served proudly in the United States Army during the WW II conflict, having been in Germany and France. He was decorated with the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, a Medal of Bravery, and was also a POW. He is survived by his wife, Anna Ella Mayhew; four children and their spouses; two brothers; a sister; and host of other relatives.
