Born January 11, 1959 in Raleigh County, West Virginia, Dennis was the son of Jack Lee Akers and Esther Israel Akers. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Debbie Lyons Akers (NC); his daughter Misty Akers (NC) and her fiancé Travis Delozier (NC); grandchildren include, Brayden Akers (NC), Colson Delozier (NC), Camryn and Aubrey Lyons (WV); additional survivors include Zachary Akers (SC), Gregory Lyons (WV), Karen Martin (SC), Connie Highlander (NC); along with numerous nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Larry & Delna Lyons (WV), and Jeff Lyons (KS).      Lewis Franklin Herndon was buried at Rochelle Christian Church Cemetery, Rochelle, Madison Co., Virginia.^6,2 His Social Security Number was 226-64-4561.⁷ He After a long courageous battle with Colon Cancer, Lewis Herndon, 59, of Rochelle, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009, surrounded by family and friends. Lewis was born September 24, 1949. Lewis was a farmer and was saddened to retire due to his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abbott K. Herndon and Frances Gibbs Herndon. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife and best friend, Rebecca "Becky" Dodson; his stepchildren, Tina Auth, Clarence Deal Jr. and Douglas Deal; his sisters, Barbara Cosner and her husband, Grant and Erlyne Smith and her husband, George; his grandchildren, Morgan, Katie, Austin, Autumn and Laci; as well as many many other friends and family members. Special thanks to Hospice of the Rapidan, Dr. Thomas Harris of University of Virginia, and to all the wonderful people that helped and participated in the "Farmers Parade" that took place in Lewis's honor on May 28, 2009.
