     Michael H. Langland Jr. was born on March 11, 1965 at Novato, Marin Co., California.^1,2 He died on April 25, 2022 at California at age 57.² He Cameo and Michael Langland are sad to announce the passing of their beloved son, Michael H. Langland Jr., on April 25, 2022. He leaves behind his beloved daughter Isabella and his beloved partner Sherri Almond, aunts and uncles, Linda and John Langland Sue and Ken Lampert, Lylene Phillips and Joni Brunson, sister Sheridan and two nephews, along with many cousins. Michael was born in Novato, March 11, 1965, graduated San Marin High School, attended San Diego and San Jose State and graduated Sonoma State University. He made his home in Rohnert Park California, but loved visiting Amador County where his parents live. His neighbors in Rohnert Park became part of his family. Michael mentored many young people and was a good son, a good man and a great father. He will be dearly missed. on May 15, 2022.²

M. Showalter, Montgomery county coroner, today rendered a verdict of suicide in the death of Walter Coffey, 32-year-old operator of a filling station near Riner who died instantly last night of a pistol wound in the head. Dr. Showalter said he did not deem an inquest necessary. Surviving him are his wife, formerly Miss Mary Graham of Floyd; father and mother; a brother, Stanley Coffey, of Radford; two sisters, Miss Marjorie Coffey, of North Carolina, and Mrs. Bessie Burnette, of Staunton; and three half-sisters, Mrs. D. M. Hoover and Mrs. W. R. DeHart, of Radford, and Mrs. Hattie Radcliffe, of Oklahoma. on December 1, 1938.⁴

Born in Hart County, she was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith. Surviving are widower, Richard Garner; son, Ricky Bowen of Honea Path; daughters, Ronda Hanks and Rita Ellison, both of Honea Path: brother, William Driver Jr. of Hartwell; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late William Driver and Fannie Jo Driver and was preceded in death by a brother, James Driver. Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery. on November 16, 2000.²

     Vicky Denise Bowers was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,2 She was born on November 27, 1953 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,3 She died on July 25, 1957 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 3.^1,2,4 She Vicky Denise Bowers, three-and-a half-year-old daughter Mr. of and Mrs. Glenville H. Bowers, choked to death on a bean early last night. The bean became lodged in her throat and efforts of her family, a physician and members of the Roanoke Life Saving and First Aid Crew to remove it were fruitless. on July 26, 1957.⁴

She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer S. Williams. She is survived by a brother, William M. Bowyer, Jr., Roanoke, Va., 3 daughters, Ann Akers, Lakeland, Fl., Frances Guarna, Lakeland, Fl., and Brenda Basham, Shawsville, Va., 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.¹ She was born on February 26, 1916 at Riner, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^4,1 As of March 30, 1935,her married name was Akers.⁴ She married Fred Johnson Akers, son of Rufus Daniel Akers and Bertie Ollie Graham, on March 30, 1935 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁴ Lucille Vernon Bowyer died on February 26, 2012 at Lakeland, Polk Co., Florida, at age 96.¹

     Martha Jeanette Cox was born on June 12, 1931 at Wise, Wise Co., Virginia.^1,3,2 As of September 21, 1954,her married name was Akers.¹ She married Fred Johnson Akers, son of Rufus Daniel Akers and Bertie Ollie Graham, on September 21, 1954 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.¹

     Mary Frances Akers Frances “Fran” Guarna, 84, of Lakeland, died on August 20, 2020. She was born on March 27, 1936 in Christiansburg, VA to Fred and Lucille Akers. Fran was preceded in death by her husband Vincent; son Daniel Ehrens, and daughter Linda Pontolillo. She is survived by 2 sisters: Ann Akers and Brenda Basham, and granddaughter Christina Pontolillo.⁸ She was born on March 27, 1936 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^3,5,8 As of January 24, 1953,her married name was Cord.³ She married Garnett Hastings Cord on January 24, 1953 at Radford, Virginia.³ Mary Frances Akers and Garnett Hastings Cord were divorced on July 24, 1962 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.⁴ As of April, 1964,her married name was Ehrenzweig.¹⁰ Mary Frances Akers married Arthur A.      Brenda Carol Akers Brenda Akers Basham, 76, of Shawsville, passed away on Thursday, 23 Sep 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lucille; sister, Fran; and grandson, Mark Thomas. Brenda is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul Basham; children, Edwina Basham Viar (Garry Allen Viar), John Basham (Sheila), Paul Basham, II; grandchildren, TJ Thomas John Beche, Robert Michael Beche (Sharon), Garry Allen Viar, Jr. (Kaelin), Sarah Gayle Viar, James Michael Basham (Danielle), Trevor Thomas Basham (Michelle), and Brian Seth Basham; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann, Sherry, and Jackie McGuyer; and step-mom, Jeanette. Brenda will be remembered for her big heart, her strength, and her yummy biscuits. She loved hummingbirds and dogs and had a laugh that was contagious. She will be so missed.      Paul Thomas Basham Paul Thomas Basham, 78 of Christiansburg, passed away on Dec 19, 2021. Paul worked at Sisson & Ryan for 30 years. He loved to spend time in his garage building things and working on cars. You could always count on his good wisdom. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Basham; parents, Paul and Irene Basham; and grandson, Mark Basham. He is survived by his children, Edwina Viar (Garry), John Basham (Sheila), Paul Basham, II; grandchildren, Thomas John Beche, Robert Michael Beche (Sharon), James Michael Basham (Danielle), Trevor Basham (Michelle), Garry Allen Viar, Jr. (Kaelin), Sarah Gayle Viar, Brian Basham; 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way; as well as sisters, Phyllis Okes and Mary Haley.
