Gerling, a native of Fort Loramie, suffered a heart attack at the Driver Motor Co. in Piqua, where he was employed as an auto mechanic. He had not been previously ill. Born July 11, 1911 in Fort Loramie, he was a son of Ben and Anna Rosengarten Gerling. His parents survive, now living in Yorkshire. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Irvin Gerling, Bradford; Orville Gerling, Dayton; Mrs. Hugo (Marcella) Langenkamp, Yorkshire; Mrs. Byrl (Viola) Hodge, Dayton; Mrs. Earl (Dorothy) Mumaw, Versailles; Mrs. Mark (Hilda) Hemmelgarn, Yorkshire. A World War II veteran, Mr. Gerling was in service from Nov. 4, 1940 to Sept. 10, 1945, in the Asiatic-Pacific theater of operations as a staff Sgt. with the 234th Air Force Base unit. Burial will be made in St. Martins cemetery at Osgood. on March 8, 1962.7

Gillespie Word has been received of the death of Jane Mildred Gillespie Kelley, 81, of Anderson, who died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, in St. John's Hospital, Anderson, following a brief illness. Born Jan. 22, 1922, in Berwyn, she was a daughter of the late James and Pauline Beaver Gillespie. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, Anderson, where she lived since 1958. For 13 years, she was a production worker for Delco Remy before retiring in 1986. She also worked for several years at Madison County Department of Public Welfare and Fort Benjamin Harrison Army Finance Center, both in Indiana. While at Delco Remy, she was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662. She loved sewing, cooking and crafts and enjoyed the mountains and the seashore. Surviving are her four children, Michael D. (husband of Susan) Kelley of Muncie, Coleen J. (Mrs. Timothy) Rector and Cheryl L. (Mrs. George) Sweigart, both of Anderson, and Robert J. (husband of Aida) of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Samuel (husband of Carol) Gillespie of Chambersburg, Pa; six grandchildren and their spouses, Skye and Kevin Huff of Denver, Colo., Wade and Bethany Rector of Holland, Mich., Cassondra Kelley of San Antonio, Texas, Jana and Audie Blankenship of Eaton, Ind., Angelina and Michael Conatser and Tiffney and Jeremy Kelley-Hennis, all of Muncie; nine great-grandchildren; and a nephew and a niece, Steven and Bobbie Gillespie of Chambersburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Gillespie.
