Eloise Adeline Palmer was born on October 13, 1929 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,2 She died on March 7, 1930 at Roanoke, Virginia.1 She Death early today claimed the third victim of the grade crossing accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon near Salem. Mrs. Willard Palmer, 19, died at 5 a.m. at a local hospital, while her five-months-old child, Delois, died at 10 o'clock in another hospital last night. Mrs. B. L. King was the other victim; she was killed instantly when the sedan was struck by the train. Both Mrs. Palmer and her baby were in critical condition when brought to Roanoke following the tragedy. Little hope was held for their recovery. The accident, the second to occur at grade crossings near Salem during the last two months, thus has brought death to three person while three others were injured. Four women and two children occupied the sedan. Mrs. Russell Palmer, daughter of Mrs. King, was driving and escaped with slight injury. Mrs. Promise Pruett, another of the occupants, likewise escaped with only lacerations and bruises and & child of Mrs. Russell Palmer was only slightly injured. Mrs. Palmer, the driver, has stated that she did not hear or see the Virginian electric locomotive as it approached the crossing. The locomotive engineer has said that he did not notice the sedan until it was well the tracks. As far as been reported, the county coroner has not rendered a verdict on the accident. All of the occupants of the sedan resided in Roanoke county. When overtaken by accident, they were returning home from a shopping tour at Salem. on March 8, 1930.3
