     Joseph Victor Hess II Joseph V. Hess, 68, of Sandusky, passed away Monday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2011, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness. Joseph was born Dec. 30, 1942, in Narrows, Va., to Joseph and Alta (Fleeman) Hess Sr. He attended Holy Angels Church, and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed antiquing, woodworking, building many things for his family, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Joseph is survived by his wife of 38 years Barbara (Rey), whom he married Nov. 29, 1973; two sons, Joseph (Toni) III and Vince (Tammy) Holeton, of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Jessica Hess, Nicole Hess, Vinnie Holeton and Jacob Holeton; one sister Vickie (Bob) Schweck of Indiana; two brothers, Tony (Mary) Ellison of Sandusky and Terry Ellison of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Louis Ellison. Tate; a daughter, Stacey Leigh Tate, Roanoke; a brother, Charles David Burnett, Anandale: a sister, Mrs. Margaret Journell, Christiansburg; an aunt, Mrs. Evelyn Albert, Roanoke; one granddaughter. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on May 1, 1984.²

"Pete" Gude, 66, of South Hill, died Wednesday, February 21, 1990. He is survived by his wife, Louise M. Gude; one son, H. Carl Gude, Jr. of Laurel, Md; one brother, Frank B. Gude of Richmond; one sister, Elnora G. Hicks of Fredericksburg, Va; two grandsons, Brian and Stephen Gude. Interment Crestview Memorial Park. Mr. Gude was the Post Commander of the V.F.W. Post No. 7166. on February 22, 1990.⁴
