Larry was preceded in death by his twin sons, Matthew and Mitchell Helms; and his parents, Walter and Joan Helms. He is survived by his spouse, Wendy Helms; his children, Jennifer and William Oldham, Danny and Kendra Helms, Ashley Hall, and Kayla Palmer; grandchildren, Harley, Shelby, Nevaeh, Logan, Skye, Ryan, and Aria. He is also survived by uncles and aunts, Russell and Gayle Creasey, Wayne and Annie Helms; siblings, Patricia Clark, Robbie Helms; nieces and nephews, Stacey Bibb, Darrell Bibb, Chris Bibb, Zach Helms, Taylor Helms; great-nieces and nephews as well as great-great-nieces and nephews, along with many cousins, family members and many friends.2 He was born on March 23, 1958 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,3 He married Pamela Gail Miller, daughter of Ezekiel Frank Miller and Nancy Marie Lawrence, on December 11, 1992 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.1 Larry Dean Helms and Pamela Gail Miller were divorced on August 19, 2005 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.4 Larry Dean Helms died on April 22, 2020 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 62.2

Judd was an amazing husband, father, Pop-Pop brother and friend. His big smile, easy going nature and kind heart left a lasting impact on everyone who met him. Judd worked at P.A. Short Distributing for 32 years. He loved his job and his work family. Some of Judd's happiest times were spent hunting at the Hoop Hole in Botetourt County. He also enjoyed kayaking and fishing on the New River. Judd is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine "Kitty" Journell, father Elvis Hall, grandparents Robert and Christine Journell and his brother Elvis Graham Hall II. Judd is survived by his loving wife Jo Ann. His son Nathan and daughter in law Jessica. His sons Bradley and Jake and his daughter Kayla. The little lights of his life, grandchildren Camden, Mille and Judson. His brother Mason and sister in law Tina. Best friend of 40 years, Chuck Hedge. A special group of young men who looked at Judd as a father figure and role model : Brock, Ryan, Matt, Derrick and Jonathan. His extended family: Robbie, Tony, Bryan, Teresa, Barry and Paula.      Amelia Jane Hough Amelia Hough Gerner, 71, passed away on May 30, 2023, after ?ghting cancer for over 20 years. Survivors include her daughters, Amy Isley (Miller) and Morgen Meadows; granddaughters, Amelia and Olivia Isley; brothers, Frank (Karen), Jay (Laura), and Andy (Judy) Hough; and stepchildren, Leah (Mack), Lauren (Duffy), Eric (Amber), and Lindsey Gerner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Franklin Hough Jr., and Betty Jane Litts Hough; husbands, Robert “Sparky” Journell III and Robert “Rob” Gerner; as well as childhood friend and soulmate, Johnny Rutherford. Amelia graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and Roanoke College. She taught elementary school for 24 years in Roanoke County before moving to Smith Mountain Lake. There she worked as a residential Realtor for Berkshire Hathaway until 2022. She loved her lake home and regularly entertained friends and relatives, creating a special bedroom for her granddaughters. She reached her goal of seeing her youngest granddaughter Olivia graduate from Virginia Tech in May 2023. Her love of water extended to Amelia’s love of beaches. She went to the beach whenever she could, especially with her dear friends the YaYas and the Hill group, starting with Garden City, S.C., then expanding to St. John, Woods Hole on Cape Cod, and Florida’s Bonita Springs. She also was a devoted runner, then walker, and enjoyed skiing trips with her family. She was fantastic company and had countless friends throughout her life, many dating back to elementary school. The family would like to thank all friends and family that assisted with Amelia’s treatments, speci?cally, Dr. William Grosh, UVA Oncologist for 20 years of care, all staff members at UVA Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, VCU Medical Center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and ?nally, Lewis Gale Medical Center.4 She was born on April 25, 1952 at Lynchburg, Virginia.3 As of August 30, 1969,her married name was Journell.2 She married Robert Mason "Sparky" Journell III, son of Robert Mason Journell Jr. and Christine Lorine Lawrence, on August 30, 1969 at Rockingham Co., North Carolina.1,2,4 Amelia Jane Hough died on May 30, 2023 at Virginia at age 71.4
