Funeral services were held at the graveside in Cedar Lawn Burial Park, where she was buried beside her husband. on August 8, 1995.2

Although she worked hard for many years at other jobs, she loved working at Walmart, where she worked until she was no longer able. It gave her the opportunity to help and interact with many people in the local community. She studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and attended their meetings. W., Roanoke, Virginia.1,2 She was born on February 8, 1933 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,2,3 She died on February 19, 1955 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 22.1,2 She Funerals will be held tomorrow for three persons who drowned Saturday when their car plunged into Tinker Creek from Hollins Rd. The three were David Russell Palmer, 25, of Dale avenue, SE; Edward Lee Gillespie, 25, of 703 Central Ave., Salem, and Myrtle Christine Johnson, 22, of Rt. 1, Salem. Residents of the section and the Williamson Road Life Saving and First Aid Crew removed the bodies of Gillespie and Miss Johnson. Palmer's body was found in the rear of the car after it had been taken from the creek. An eye witness the accident reported the car crossed a bridge leading from Hollins road into the Palmer Park section at a normal speed, swung left, failed to straighten out and went down the embankment. The vehicle rolled over in approximately six feet of water, Several persons who lived nearby quickly reached the scene and several young men went into the stream and vainly sought to reach the victims trapped inside. Miss Johnson is survived by her father, Edgar P. Johnson, Richmond, Ind; her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. McCray, Rt. 1, Salem; a brother, Jackson McCray, Rt. 1, Salem; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Sue Dalton, Greensboro, N.C; Miss Patricia McCray, Miss Carolyn McCray and Miss Brenda McCray, all of Rt. 1, Salem. on February 21, 1955.4
