Mr. Shawkey was born in Waynesboro on February 5, 1969, to Carolyn “Sue” (Jordan) Shawkey and the late Robert Deeds Shawkey. Mr. Shawkey was employed as a superintendent for Nielsen Construction for the last thirteen years. His favorite pastimes were golfing and fishing. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three stepdaughters, Kimberly, Kelly, and Rachael McDaniel; a brother, Bobby Shawkey (Deborah); a sister, Melissa Chambers; grandchildren, Riley Anne McDaniel, Elijah Thompson, and Asher Cubbage; a nephew, Shane Edward Berry; two nieces; Amber Lynn Mitchem (Cody) and Avery Loren Shawkey; a great-nephew, Draven Justice Shawkey; a great-niece, Lilith Elowyn Mitchem; and special friends, Jim Walters, David and Lisa Alford, and Bob and Stacey Boal.³ He was born on February 5, 1969 at Waynesboro, Augusta Co., Virginia.^2,3 He married Dawn Marie Konieczny on July 2, 1992 at Charlottesville, Virginia.⁵ Jay Michael Shawkey and Dawn Marie Konieczny were divorced on February 15, 1995 at Waynesboro, Augusta Co., Virginia.⁴ Jay Michael Shawkey died on January 5, 2022 at Staunton, Augusta Co., Virginia, at age 52.³

     Dewey A. Keatley Funeral services for Dewey (D.A.) Keatley, 62, of Beckley, formerly of Mount Hope, will be held Wednesday. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Keatley died at 7 p.m. Sunday while visiting at Frost. Death was attributed to a heart attack. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Keatley, he was born at Speedway, Sept. 7, 1903. He was a retired miner; a member of the Mount Hope Baptist Temple and United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include his wife, Hallie; three sons, Jack, of Mount Hope, Kenneth of Beckley and Hugh of Martinsville; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Price and Mrs. Marie Kessinger, bother of Athens and Mrs. Carrie Snead of Charleston and six grandchildren.² He was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.² He was born on September 7, 1903 at Speedway, Mercer Co., West Virginia.² He married Margarette Shawkey, daughter of George Washington Shawkey and Nannie Ellen Martin, on November 3, 1962 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.¹ Dewey A. Passed away May 30, 2016 at Kettering Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Sonny was born in Beckley, WV on September 24, 1933 to the late William and Goldie Herbert. Sonny's love for cars led him to his career as an auto mechanic. He worked for Shell Oil Company at the training service station on Far Hills Ave. as a station manager. He was also a service station owner until his retirement. Sonny was a very proud member of the U.S. Army where he served in Korea as a motor pool leader and instructor. Proceeding in death in addition to his parents, sisters, Garnet, Virginia and Betty; brothers, Charlie and William A; his loving son, Randy who passed away in August, 2015. Sonny will be sadly missed by his wife, Gloria; son, Steve; granddaughter, Brittany (Brian); great grandson, Tanner; and the Light of his life, great granddaughter, Harper. He is also survived by numerous family and friends. Burial will take place at David's Cemetery. on June 2, 2016.⁴
