In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ernestine; son, Ron; brothers, Curtis and Homer; sisters, Reba Dorsey, Georgia Dorsey and Ottovie Ramsey; step-son, Fred Grose. He was a former trustee and member of the Lizemores United Methodist Church and retired from Union Carbide Mine after 34 years of service. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Arthur was a devoted Christian, he was a quiet and soft spoken man who had two families that loved him very much. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 15 years, Jeanette Morton; daughter, Susan (Norris) Ellison of Sebring, FL; sons, Rick (Sandra) Morton of Lizemores, Kermit (Faye) Morton of Winfield; sisters, Dena Fitzwater of Dixie, Flora Jo Kilburn of Kanawha Falls, Arlene Slusher of Bedford, IN; step-children, Pamela (David) Wilson of Victor, Roger (Sharon) Grose of Marietta, OH, Bob (Debra) Grose of Bentree; 8 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Clay Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by Clay VFW Post #4419. The family would like to convey their sincere thanks to Dr. Atassi, Ella Jones and Jennifer Bodkins. Roy Lewis Grose Jr. Roy Lewis Grose Jr., 81, of Mount Hope, formerly of Claremont, Fla., passed away on April 11, 2008, at The Hilltop Center, in Hilltop, W.Va. Roy was born on February 18, 1927, in Swiss to the late Roy Lewis and Elouise Justus Grose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Everett Grose; and a son, Freddie Lewis Grose. Roy was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, attended Nicholas County High School until he enlisted in the Army to serve his country during World War II. Upon his return from military service he graduated from Charleston Business School. He was employed at Union Carbide, and Jeffords & Moore as a bookkeeper and salesman, Playtex as a salesman, was a licensed real estate agent, and was the former owner and operator of Grose's Pike Motel on Harper Road in Beckley. Roy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Margie Mullins Grose; a daughter, Pamela (David) Wilson of Victor; sons, Roger (Sharon) Grose of Marietta, Ohio, and Robert (Debra) of Bentree; and stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Garry) Baker of Bentree. He is also survived by grandchildren, Fred (Jennifer) Renick of Holden, Mo., Jennifer and Rebecca Grose of Princeton, Noah (Nikki) Grose of Lexington, Ky., Natalie Grose of Cincinnati, Ohio, Amanda Shelton of Cannelton, Jonathan (Beth) Grose of Gauley Bridge, Kelly (Jeff) Morton of Bentree, Justin (Kristi) Wilson of Rangeley, Colo., and Matthew Wilson of Victor; step-grandchildren, Theresa Holley of Bentree and Kim Liming of Claremont, Fla; 12 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Roy will be remembered for his wit, gift of gab and the choices he made throughout his life. He was a free spirit and came and went through this life his own way.
