Jim was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War and was a former member of the Nitro Church of God and a member of Bancroft Church of God Mission where he sang in the choir. Jim loved to play the piano and had been the piano player for the Proclaimers Quartet. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years Carol Barnett Paxton, infant daughters Melissa Ellen and Holly Ann, his parents Rev. Cladis and June Paxton, and his brother-in-law Richard Lorrison. Jim is survived by his son Chris Paxton and wife Kim of Poca, daughter Amy May and husband Johnny of Cross Lanes, sister Janet Saunders and husband Kenny of Poca, and sister Shirley Lorrison of Muncie, IN; brother Paul Paxton of Bancroft, and his grandchildren Jacob and Kailey Paxton. Burial will follow in Showen Cemetery, Bancroft with military graveside rites. Mr. Saunders is retired from Carpenters Union Local # 439, graduate of Poca High School and attended Lett Creek Community Church. He is preceded in death by his wife Janet Paxton Saunders; daughter Angela Lynn Saunders and brother Tom Saunders. He is survived by his son Kenneth W. Saunders, Jr. (Kelly Davis); sister Carolyn Murray of NC and three grandchildren Kenneth Austin Saunders, Kyler Traigh Saunders and Kaila Lynn Saunders. He managed Family Carpet in Saint Albans. He has been in the carpet business for 45 years. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Cladis D. and Myrtle McCroskey Paxton, brother James Cladis Paxton, and sister Janet Paxton Saunders. Paul is survived by his loving wife Susan, 2 sons Wesley Scott and wife Tara Paxton and Matthew Dylan and wife Erin Paxton, sister Shirley Lorrison, and 6 grandchildren Aryssa, Haylee, Dylan, Mia, Grayson, and Lochlan, and a host of family and friends. Burial will follow in Showen Cemetery, Bancroft.² He was born on March 14, 1952.⁵ He married Susan L. Lorrison, Sr., 75, lost his battle with cancer at home with his family by his side Thursday atternoon, July 3, 2008, although he lost his bout with cancer he won his place in Heaven. He was born, October 6, 1932, in Gordon, WV the son of John Edward and Audrey Beatrice (Dailey) Lorrison and attended schools in that area. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Lorrison was employed at Muncie Reclamation for 35 years prior to his retirement October 6, 1997. He was a member of Gathering Church of God and Amvets Post 12. He was a 32nd degree Mason, active with Cardiac Rehab and 8th street Senior Center. He also liked fishing, hunting, football, baseball, and Nascar. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Shirley; his son, Rick Lorrison (wife-Penny); two grandchildren, Brandon Lorrison and Amanda Wesley (husband-Brandon); a great granddaughter, Leyla Wesley, all of Muncie; three sisters, Doris Hall, Lenore, WV, Carolyn Sue Stewart (husband-George), Middleport, OH, and Mary Oiler (husband-Gene), Gallipolis, OH; two brothers, Donald Lorrison, Huntington, WV and Ronald Lorrison, Newark, OH; a sister-in-law, Janet Saunders (husband-Kenneth), Poca, WV; two brothers-in-law, James and Paul Paxton, both of Bancroft, WV; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial will follow Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County. on July 6, 2008.³
