Survivors are: four daughters; Mrs. Henry Kanak of Hopewell, Mrs. Eva Bamar of Lynchburg, Mrs. Dora Combs of Atlee, Mrs. E. L. Long of Richmond, three sons; George W. of Arrington, Va., Walter C. and Raymond H. Gowen, both of Richmond, eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Gowen of Richmond, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. on December 5, 1941.²

Survivors include three daughters, Misses Kay and Kathy Neumeyer, both of Newport News, and Mrs. Jo Whitley of Hampton; a sister, Mrs. Carrie G. Ragland, and one brother, Roy Gowen, both of Newport News. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park. on June 25, 1977.³
