Graveside rites and committal service will beat Kincaid Cemetery in Kincaid. Nephews, Joshua Keffer, Christopher Keffer, David Smith, Justin Keffer, Jackson Keffer, and Jeffery Keffer will serve as pallbearers. on September 20, 2013.4

He was a member of the Bancroft Church of God Mission. He was an ordained minister of the Church of God Mission Organization, having pastored Valley Drive Church of God Mission and Clark Memorial Church of God Mission. Surviving: daughters, Shirley Lorrison of Muncie, Indiana and Janet Saunders of Poca; sons, James Paxton of Red House and Paul Paxton of Bancroft; sisters, Wanda Harper of Walton and Thelma Canterbury Paynter of Charleston; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
