Fitzpatrick, 50, of Ward, passed away at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, on September 20, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Mark was born May 4, 1963, in Elkhart, Ind., and lived most of his life in Ward. He was the son of Alice Hodge and the late Boyd Fitzpatrick. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Camillia Perkins, whom he loved deeply, and his best friend, Timmy Boothe. Mark married his high school sweetheart, Lois Tucker, and was married for 31 years. They had three boys: Brandon, Mark "Dillon" and Austin. They were blessed with their first grandchild, Emily Grayce Fitzpatrick, on August 6, 2012. Also surviving are his sister, Terri Hodge, and brother, David Fitzpatrick, and many nieces and nephews. Mark was an avid hunter and he always said he lived to hunt. He was a truck driver for 23 years, the last 10 years for Medford Trucking Co. They called him "Ellie May." Mark was a loving, devoted husband, father and friend. He leaves behind many loyal and dedicated friends and family. Mark fought for five long years to try to beat the cancer; he suffered terribly. His battle has been lost but the heavens gained a special angel. He was loved so much and will be greatly missed by so many. He will be forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank all who helped him through his battle these last five years: friends, loved ones, Mount Lewis Baptist Church and Hospice worker Jo Bailey, who took such good care of him. There are no words to use to thank his employer Kevin Medford and his wife, Cindy, for all the love, help, care and support that they have shown Mark and our family during his illness. Burial will follow the service in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. In memory of Mark's love for hunting, on the day of his funeral the family asks men to wear camouflage in his memory. on September 23, 2013.2
