     Clinton Moses Gowen was buried at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Virginia.⁴ He was born on December 31, 1930 at Arrington, Nelson Co., Virginia.^3,6 He married Margaret Lorraine Mundy on November 15, 1952 at Charlottesville, Virginia.^3,7 Clinton Moses Gowen died on December 30, 2017 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 86.⁴ He NEWPORT NEWS - Clinton Moses Gowen, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was a native of Arrington, VA. He was affectionately known as 'POPPOP' and the Mayor of Bayberry. Clinton was a Korean War Veteran serving in the USAF and Reserves and Civil Air Patrol from 1948 - 1960. He worked for Newport News Shipyard and then a 50 year member of Local 45 Boilermakers, as welder. Was a Former member of Masonic Transportation Lodge #337 A.F. & A.M. Newport News. He was also a former member of Deer Park Baptist Church and member of Faith Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret and grandson Matthew and his parents George and Earle Gowen brothers George, Morris, and Ellis, and sister Hilda. He is survived by his son, Clint Gowen and his wife Elaine a granddaughter Nicole and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Matthew Wade and a brother Addie Lynn Gowen. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. on January 1, 2018.⁴

     Addie Lynn Gowen Mr. Addie Lynn Gowen of Madison Heights, Virginia passed peacefully on September 28, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born in Arrington, Virginia on November 20, 1934, the youngest of five children of the late George Webster Gowen and Marion Earl Wright Gowen. Addie was a graduate of Lovingston High School. In 1954, he eloped and married the love of his life, the late Barbara Ann Simpson. The two were together for 52 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After his service, he worked as an electrician at Lynchburg Foundry, retiring after 35 years. Addie was a devoted husband and selfless caregiver to his wife during her long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Addie was a gentle soul who loved his family. He often told stories of growing tobacco on his family’s farm with his four brothers, or of his years spent working in downtown Lynchburg. Always the comedian, Addie was funny whether he meant to be or not. He and his friends could be found eating and talking at Hardees in Amherst every day. He also enjoyed cooking and made the best spiral ham. He was thoughtful and cared for others. Addie was always on the go, and liked to take drives on the Parkway and to the Peaks of Otter. His high school senior class voted him ‘neat as a pin’, a trait he continued throughout his life. He is also preceded in death by his brothers George, Morris, Ellis, and Clinton. Addie is survived by his son David Lynn Gowen and wife Cindy, and his granddaughter Brittani Lynn Gowen, all of Clifford, Virginia. Addie was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Lovingston, Virginia. The family would like to thank Runk & Pratt and Lynchburg General Hospital, special friend Becky Fulcher for her devoted care and companionship, and his neighbors.      Rose Patricia Anderson was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Virginia.^2,4 She was born on March 28, 1921 at Baltimore, Maryland.^1,2,4 As of December 1, 1951,her married name was Gowen.¹ She married George Earl Gowen Sr., son of George Webster Gowen and Marion Earl Wright, on December 1, 1951 at Norfolk, Virginia.^1,2,3,4 Rose Patricia Anderson died on June 23, 1980 at Norfolk, Virginia, at age 59.^2,4

     Rose Lucille Aufieri was buried at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Prince George's Co., Maryland.² She Rose Lucille Gowen, March 27, 1925 — April 12, 2015. Rose Lucille Gowen, age 90, of Waldorf, MD passed peacefully on April 12, 2015. Loving mother to Roderick Gowen, Rose Mary Hopkins, and Anita Gowen-Wolfe. Grandmother of Ashley Gowen, Taylor Gowen, and Kirbie Gowen-Parker. Sister to Gus Greco. Aunt to Christine Knight and cousin to Millie Landini and Angelo Ribaldi. She is predeceased by her husband Morris Eugene Gowen, her parents Enricco and Antoinette Aufieri, and her sister Mary Vasco.¹ Her married name was Gowen.¹ She married Morris Eugene Gowen, son of George Webster Gowen and Marion Earl Wright.¹ Rose Lucille Aufieri was born on March 27, 1925.¹ She died on April 12, 2015 at Waldorf, Charles Co., Maryland, at age 90.¹

     Margurette Lillian Harris was buried at Amherst Cemetery, Amherst, Amherst Co., Virginia.^2,3 She was born on January 18, 1924 at Amherst Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,4 As of May 29, 1948,her married name was Gowen.¹ She married Robert Ellis Gowen, son of George Webster Gowen and Marion Earl Wright, on May 29, 1948 at Clifford, Amherst Co., Virginia.¹ Margurette Lillian Harris and Robert Ellis Gowen were divorced on June 6, 1955 at Amherst Co., Virginia.⁵ Margurette Lillian Harris died on May 3, 1987 at Lynchburg, Virginia, at age 63.^2,3

     Patricia Johnson Ware Patricia Ware Gowen, 67, of Amherst, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 with her family and close friends by her side at UVA Medical Center. She was the loving wife of Thomas Earl Gowen for 47 years. Born on January 3, 1952 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Fleming Ware, Jr. and the late Mary Odell Johnson Ware. Patricia was a generous, loving, and caring wife and mother to her family and many friends. She was a retired MICU nurse with 25 years of service at Centra Health in Lynchburg and loved her work as a nurse. She enjoyed many wonderful patients and friends that she made over the years there. Patricia is survived by her husband, Thomas Gowen; two sons, Nathan Gowen and wife Nancy Ann of Zion Crossroads, VA and Brandon Gowen and girlfriend Celia Gilbert of Louisa, VA; two grandchildren, Noah Gowen and Madison Gowen; brother, Phillip G. Ware of Amherst; close life-long friend, Elizabeth “Betsy” Ellington of Amherst; two special MICU nurses and friends, Judy Bradley of Forest and Sharon Bradley of Rustburg; and numerous other family members and friends. The family would like to extend a thank you to the UVA SICU and MICU units and to the doctors and nurses for their extraordinate care during Patricia’s illness.      Laura Dianne Grimsley Laura Dianne Grimsley Gowen, age 70, died Thursday, March 24, 2022.⁴ She was born on August 25, 1951 at Radford, Virginia.^1,2,3 As of August 16, 1975,her married name was Gowen.¹ She married Donald Wayne Gowen, son of Robert Ellis Gowen and Margurette Lillian Harris, on August 16, 1975 at Amherst Co., Virginia.¹ Laura Dianne Grimsley and Donald Wayne Gowen were divorced on January 20, 1982 at Henrico Co., Virginia.² Laura Dianne Grimsley died on March 24, 2022 at Virginia at age 70.⁴

Margaret was a native of Charlottesville, VA and graduated from McIntyre High School and Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond. She later graduated from St Joseph College with a BS and a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University. She was a former member of Deer Park Baptist Church and member of Faith Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clinton M. Gowen and her son, Clint M. Gowen and his wife Elaine also survived by her sisters, Millicent Gardner of Charlottesville and Evelyn Somma of Melbourne, FL. A granddaughter Nicole and two great- grandchildren, Landon Reid Thomas and Matthew Wade Gowen and preceded in death by her grandson Matthew Charles Gowen on July 12, 2017. on July 29, 2017.²

     Matthew Charles Gowen was buried at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Virginia.³ He was born on October 18, 1994 at Newport News, Virginia.^2,3 He died on July 12, 2017 at Virginia at age 22.^1,3 He Matthew Charles Gowen, 22, of Yorktown, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, after a tragic car accident. Born Oct. 18, 1994, in Newport News, Va., he will be remembered for his unwavering love and ability to make others laugh. He is survived by his parents, Clint and Elaine Gowen; son, Matthew Wade Gowen; sister, Nicole Gowen; grandparents, Margaret and Clinton Gowen and Mary Lou Burgess; nephew, Landon Reid Thomas; aunts and uncles, Becky Burgess, Bobby and Michelle Burgess and Larry and Deborah Burgess; and cousins, Tammy Sadjak, Kirstie Odom and Daniel and Jamie Burgess.
