She was a loving and caring mother and friend to many. She was a member of Layman Memorial Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Edward Robertson. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Renee and David W. Dearing of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Marion and Ellen M. Robertson of Roanoke; daughter and fianc, Tondrea Jane Sink and Tim Long of Elliston; four grandchildren, Darrell and Leann Dearing, Noah Robertson, all of Roanoke, and Kaylee Sink of Elliston; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Jane (Robertson) and Eugene Normand; nephews, Bruce and Albert Normand, all of Fredericksburg, Va. Her unconditional love and her great sense of humor will always be remembered and cherished by her children. The interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family would like to extend many thanks to her doctor of 31 years, Dr. Daniel Camden, Lewis-Gale ER staff and staff on 5 West, the Roanoke City EMS Crew and to Home Instead Senior Care and Medi Home Health Staff. on February 3, 2004.5

In 1970, Eleanor began her banking career with Princeton Bank and Trust Company, later changed to First Community Bank, retiring in 1990. While working at the bank she had the privilege of training many young men and women who are in leadership positions in today's workforce. She, along with her late husband Lee, owned and operated Palmer Properties in Princeton. While her health permitted she was an active member of the First Christian Church on Straley Avenue in Princeton where she taught Sunday school for many years and was involved in other aspects of the church. She was devoted to her family and love working with her flowers. Miss Eleanor will be remembered for being a beautiful and lovely lady, always wearing a radiant smile and sharing her love with everyone she came in contact with. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Lee Palmer; along with three siblings, Sylvia Repass Foster, Annie Simmons, and Bud Taylor. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted and loving daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Terry Rose; her granddaughter, who she loved and adored, Dr. Terra Rose of Raleigh N.C; two siblings, Violet Belcher of Princeton, and Ray J. Taylor and wife Marlene of Pearisburg, VA; her very special friend, Wanda Lusk. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton. on September 25, 2013.2
