June Lee Harry was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.6 She was born on June 23, 1948 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3,6 As of September 1, 1973,her married name was Higgs.4 She married Thomas Eldridge "Tommy" Higgs on September 1, 1973 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,2,3,4 June Lee Harry died on May 8, 2017 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 68.3 She June Lee Higgs, 68, from Salem, Virginia, passed away May 8, 2017 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Princeton, and grew up as she would say, "Elkorn, West by god Virginia!" She was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School, Class of 1966, and after graduation stayed in the Roanoke Valley where she worked as a bank manager, Clerk of Circuit Court, VP of R. Frazier Inc. and was a self-employed accounting consultant. She was a pillar of the Salem community, and her accolades are felt even to this day, as she was a plank-holder in the development of the Farmers Market, a founding member of Olde Salem Days, and a devoted member of Ft. Lewis Christian Church. June is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Georgia Harry; her grandmother, Cannie Elmore; and her brother, Roger Harry. June is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Thomas (Tommy); her Airforce son, Jason; her sister, Judy Lawrence; and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to living here in Salem, she also had a wonderful extended family in Florida, in which she wanted to thank them for all of their support, gifts, cards, and flowers. Speaking of support, she would have wanted to extend a special appreciation to Heather, who as a previous cancer survivor, attended, supported, and cared for her to the very end. Finally, she would want to thank the "Ya-Yas", Pheobe McAnallen, Becky Leffell, and Ann Sampson, for the life-long support till very last bottle was popped! Although she loved flowers, and she would be appreciative of them in the end, she loved her church just as much. on May 10, 2017.3
