The 20 year-old Marine, a native of Pittsylvania County, was born Oct. 7, 1948, a son of James T. Owen of Danville and the late Irene Bandy Owen. Most of his life was spent in Danville where he was employed by Dan River Mills. A former Register and Bee carrier, he was graduated from Dan River High School in 1967 and entered the U. S. Marines May 1 of this year. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church at Dry Fork. In addition to his father, he is survived by two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Lavon O. Durham of Danville, Miss Kathleen Owen, Barry Owen, Steve Owen, and Michael Owen, all of Hughes School. Also left are his stepmother, Mrs. Dianne B. Owen of Danville, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Bandy of Danville, and his paternal grandparents, I. S. Owen and Mrs. Myrtle Watson Owen of Danville, with whom he made his home.2 He was born on October 7, 1948 at Danville, Virginia.2,3,4 He died on December 7, 1968 at Tam Ky, Quang Nam, Vietnam, at age 20.4
