     Virginia L. Baker Virginia L. Cook, 74, of Davenport, IA, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport. She was born May 23, 1944, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Virgil Loren & Merle Ferne Cooper Baker. She met her life partner, Edward D. Barnes, Sr. in 1984. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2018. Survivors include her daughter, Tina (Dan) Baker of Milan, IL; sons, Loren Cooke of Davenport, IA and John (Tara) Cooke of Ironwood, MI; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Virgil and Duane Baker; and one son Paul C. Cooke II.² She was buried at Peniel Cemetery, Joy, Mercer Co., Illinois.⁶ Her married name was Cooke.⁷ She married Larry Henry Cooke.⁷ Virginia L. Baker was born on May 23, 1944 at Rock Island, Rock Island Co., Illinois.⁶ She died on October 21, 2018 at Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa, at age 74.²

He was a graduate of University of the South Education for Ministry program. He was employed by Huttig Sash and Door, Fredericksburg, as a millwork specialist, for 18 years. Prior to that, he worked at Rode Island Millworks, for 16 years. He served two terms on the vestry at the church; was past president of St. Andrew Brotherhood; and was a member of the Illinois National Guard. Survivors include the widow; daughters, Tarina Mauck, Ladysmith, Va., and Traci Baker, Portsmouth, Va; a stepdaughter, Michelle Hessler, Stafford, Va; a stepson, Jody Hessler, Falmouth, Va; two granddaughters; his parents, Aledo; sisters, Virginia Cooke and Norma Garrison, both of Rock Island; a brother, Dean Baker, Aledo; and several nieces and nephews. on June 29, 1992.⁴

     Duane Earl Baker Duane E. Baker, 47, of 807 NW 6th St., Aledo, died Wednesday, July 6, 1988, at St. Francis Hospital, Peoria. Burial was in Piniel Cemetery. Duane Earl Baker was born Oct 19, 1940 in Moline, the son of Virgil Loren and Merle Ferne Cooper Baker. He was employed as a truck driver for Swiss Valley Dairy, Rock Island, for 17 years. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Rock Island, and attended the Aledo Assembly of God Church. He was a retired staff sergeant with the Army National Guard of Illinois. Survivors include his parents, Loren and Ferne Cooper Baker, Aledo; his daughter, Tiffany, Rock Island; sons, Duane E. II, Jason; Bryan; and his stepson, Lance Luther, all of Rock Island; sisters, Virginia Cooke, Rock Island; Norma Garrison, Moline; his twin brother, Dean M., of Aledo; and Virgil L., of Fredericksburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.⁵ His Social Security Number was 349-32-2432.⁴ He was buried at Peniel Cemetery, Joy, Mercer Co., Illinois.^3,5 He was born on October 19, 1940 at Moline, Rock Island Co., Illinois.⁴ He married Mary Jo Youd on December 27, 1969 at Rock Island Co., Illinois.⁷ Duane Earl Baker died on July 6, 1988 at Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at age 47.^4,5

Cooke II, 44, of Cedar Bluff, Ala., formerly of Wapello, Iowa, died May 28, 2012, in Alabama. Paul was born Oct. 23, 1967, the son of Larry Henry Cooke and Virginia L. Baker Cooke. He was employed at HON. Paul enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, baking and drawing. He is survived by his parents, Larry Cooke, Alabama, Virginia Cooke (Dale Barnes), Davenport; children, Cheyenne S. Williams, Moline, Paul C. Cooke III, Ironwood, Mich; grandchildren, Preston Berry, Peighton and Lilionnah Williams and Skylar Cooke; sister, Tina Cooke, Rock Island; brothers, Loren "Butch" Cooke, Davenport, and John (Tara) Cooke, Ironwood. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Loren and Feme Baker; uncles, Virgil and Duane Baker; great-grandmother, Sadie Baker; paternal grandparents, Paul and Marie Cooke I; and aunt, Shirley Vernon. on May 31, 2012.³
