Woodrow Wilson Rose Wilson Rose, 92, of Mullens, formerly of Princeton, went home on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Beckley VAMC following a short illness. Born November 3, 1922 at Davy, he was the son of the late William E. Rose and Mary "Elizabeth" Wood-Rose-Stewart. He was formerly married to Geraldine McKinney on November 16, 1945 in Bud-Alpoca, Wyoming County, WV. Mr. Rose was a former coal miner, retiring from Slab Fork Coal Company, Alpoca with 35 years of service, and was a member of UMWA. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II. In his younger days in his leisure he enjoyed fishing and playing baseball. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a son, Kennith Rose; a daughter, Drema Gale Rose Archambeault; a grandson, Robert Stephen Davis; one stepson, Larry Howerton; and two brothers, French Rose and Thomas E. Stewart. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Faye Howerton Rose of Princeton; his children, Brenda Rose Davis and her husband, Travis Davis, Billy Rose his wife, Ann Rose, Tommy Rose and his wife, Sue Rose, Mona Lisa Rose Goode, Danny Rose and his wife, Ivory Rose, and Mary Rose Kennerly; his step-children, Billy Howerton and his wife, Sheri Howerton, Alice Howerton-Lawson and her husband, Jay Lawson, Debbie Howerton Elliot and her husband, Clyde Elliott, Dallas Howerton and his wife, Linda Howerton, and Kenneth Howerton and his wife, Janny Howerton; 17 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Rose. French Emmett Rose French, 87, of Battle Creek peacefully passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at home. He was the son of William and Lizzie (Wood) Rose. French proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a Destroyer Escort. Following the war he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Percy Jones Army Hospital. After his military service he worked in the Shipping Department of Kellogg's until his retirement in 1984. French enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing poker with friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Dorothy (Murphy) Rose; daughter, Deborah G. Owens both of Battle Creek; brothers, Billy Stewart of Kalamazoo and Thomas Stewart of Peotone, Illinois; grandchildren, Christopher Owens of Battle Creek, Loni (Dustin) Kent of Noblesville, Indiana and great grandchildren, Peyton and Marlo Kent of Noblesville, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. Geraldine Mae McKinney MULLENS - Geraldine Mae McKinney Rose Dickens, 75, formerly of Alpoca, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short illness. Born Oct. 31, 1926, at Herndon, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert McKinney and Gracie Cromer McKinney. Mrs. Dickens was a former nursing assistant at Wyoming General Hospital. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dreama Rose Archambeault; a grandson, Robert Stephen Davis. Rose, 61, of Amigo went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Born December 22, 1951, he was the son of Woodrow Wilson Rose and the late Geraldine McKinney Rose. Kennith loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and beloved dog Dingo. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #151 of Mullens, WV, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where he was the Worthy Grand Patron in 2006. He worked 23 years as a coal miner including for the E and A Coal Company at Whitby, WV. Kennith was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his mother, Kennith is preceded in death by his sister, Drema Gail (Rose) Archambeault; mother-in-law, Cora Cumby; and special uncle, Jay McKinney. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 44 years, Betty (Cumby) Rose of Amigo; daughter, Connie Lynn (Rose) Stickler of Mullens; grandchildren, Dylan and Kendra Stickler of Mullens; and his beloved pet Dingo; two sisters, Brenda Davis and husband Travis of Mullens, Mona Lisa (Rose) Goode and husband Tommy of Florida; 4 brothers, Billy Rose and wife Ann of Princeton, Tommy Rose and wife Sue of Herndon Heights, Ronald Dickens of Beckley and Jerry Wayne Dickens and wife Anna of Mullens; special uncle, Jess (Jaybird) Maynard of Alpoca; father-in-law, Robert Andrew Cumby of Amigo; sisters-in-law, Sandy Shrewsbury and companion, Arnold Linkous, of Mt. He was born January 10, 1942 in Mullens, to the late William Travis Davis Jr. and Ruth Wolford Davis. Mr. Davis served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Princeton VVVA Chapter 628, former member of the Wyoming County Honor Guard where he presented the colors for local football games. Mr. Davis attended Salvation Through Christ Church in Princeton, and was a former member of Pierpoint Baptist Church in Mullens. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad after many years of service, and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a son Robert Davis, two sisters, Millicent Smith and Beth Thompson, and his faithful fur baby Gizzy. Survivors include his wife of 52 years Brenda Rose Davis of the residence; one son Travis Davis and wife Amanda of Mullens; one daughter Melissa Dye and husband Tim of Dallas, Georgia; one sister Becky Fulford of Mullens; three grandsons Huston Harden, Brandon Dye, and Travis Davis, one granddaughter Reed Jedra and her husband Jordan, and one great granddaughter Sierra Harden, and a sister-in-law Lisa Goode of Starke, FL. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton, with military graveside honors by Princeton VVA Chapter 628. on September 18, 2019.4

Cumby. Betty is survived by her daughter, Connie Lynn Rose-Stickler; grandchildren, Kendra Marie Stickler and Dylan Seymour Stickler; sisters Sandy Cumby-Shrewsberry & friend Arnold Linkous, Diane Cumby-Wrenn & husband Larry Wrenn, and Darline Cumby-Kiblinger & Marty Kiblinger; brother, David Cumby; special sister Alma Lilly & husband Roger Lilly; and many extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Betty attended Amigo Elementary, Mullens High School, and Beckley Beauty Academy. She was the owner and operator of her own beauty shop, "Snip-n-Clip Hair Fashions" in Amigo, WV. She was an active member of Rhodell Church of God and Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star 2017-2018 Mullens Chapter 100. She enjoyed leading the Girl Scouts Troop 2410 of Amigo, WV, sewing, cooking, and most of all, sharing her life with her husband raising their daughter Connie. She strived to be a good wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
