She had worked in the Accounting department at the former Vermillion County Hospital and was a former member of the Wakofe Club. She also was in a women’s bowling league, several years ago, and loved to play bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Dee Smith; and brothers and sisters, Owen Hutson, Jr., Veda Jones, Richard Hutston, Max Hutson, and James Hutson. She is survived by two daughters, Paula and John Barrett of Clinton and Jackee and Brad Paige of Riley; one grandson, her pride and joy, Logan Burdick and Erika Lechleitner of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She was born April 16, 1947 in Terre Haute, the daughter of James S. Shaw and Elizabeth Esta Westfall Shaw. She married Russell Hofmann and he survives. Barbara was a graduate of Garfield High School in 1965 and then moved to Florida. She returned in 2006. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Christine Berner of Washington State, and Hope Hofmann of Indiana; grandchildren, Bradley, Lillian and Emili, all of Washington; brothers James, Fred, Norman, Charles, Jerry, Danny and William; sisters, June, Mary, Phyllis and Maxine. Her parents and two brothers, Robert and Richard, preceeded her. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park. on October 22, 2007.¹
