She worked for Koppers Coal Company and Mercer County Schools, briefly. She served as a Girl Scout Leader in Kimball. Gladys was preceded in death, other than her parents, by her husband William Edgar Gray; three brothers James, John, and Richard Roberts. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Libby Vandevander (Gene) of Kimball, Jane Hanson (Mike), and Kenneth Roberts of Durham, NC. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, WV. In December of 1960, he earned his degrees to become a master Mason and moved to Charlotte, NC, where he continued his career with the Charlotte Fire Department. He began at Fire Station 17 at Charlotte-Douglas Airport and retired from there at the rank of captain. There will be a graveside service on Sunday June 16 at 4:00 PM in Henry, VA at Town Creek Primitive Baptist Church. on June 15, 2002.⁸
