Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Stophel was born Jan 1, 1937, in Bristol, Va., to James Franklin Wood and Tiny Jane Mann Wood. A member of Woodland Baptist Church, Mrs. Stophel had attended College Park Baptist Church for the last seven years. She was a faithful member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and the Ann Sprouse Group at College Park Baptist Church. In addition, she was a member of TOPPS Weight Loss of Polo Park. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed. In June of 1998, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Junior Stophel. Surviving are her daughter, Miss Jeanne Deloris Stophel of Greensboro; her son, Dennis L. Stophel and his wife, Mary Jane, of Winston-Salem; her two grandsons, Billy and Matthew; her two brothers, James Edward Wood and his wife, Myrtle, of Nelsonville, Ohio, David Franklin Wood and his companion, JoAnne Husky of Bristol, Tenn; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Vogler & Sons Reynolds Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at College Park Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Smith and Rev. Joseph Jennings officiating. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol, Tenn. Pallbearers for Mrs. Stophel will be: Monty R. Wood, Howard R. Wood Jr., Jeff R. Wood, Tim R. Wood, Jamie Wood and Mike Jackson. on October 18, 2001.2

Born Dec. 15, 1930 in Grundy, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Ross Jackson and Mary Lee (McCracken) Jessee. Myrtle retired from Oak Rubber Company in Ravenna, Ohio. She attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Her passions in life were loving her grandchildren, cooking and flowers. She is survived by three daughters, Debra Pritchett of Nelsonville, Ohio, Sandra Geib of Kent, Ohio and Patsy (Martin) Youngblood of Nelsonville, Ohio; one sister, Virginia Milam of Columbus, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Jenny Wood of Blacklick, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Wood; two sons, Monty Ray Wood and Eddie Ross Wood; one daughter, Bernadette Wood; one great-granddaughter, Kenzie Belcher; two sisters, Betty Hanshew and Matt Skeens; two brothers, Ralph and Artemis Jessee. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Carbon Hill Cemetery, Ohio, with Pastor Dave Sherman officiating. on October 3, 2016.1
