Mary Martha was born on August 4, 1945 in Columbia, Mo. When she was very young, her family moved to Pratt, WV. She was a 1963 graduate of East Bank High School. She was preceded in in death by her parents, Robert A. Mitchell and Katheryn Prawl. Mary Martha married her classmate and high school sweetheart Jim McCune 47 years ago. She was a hair stylist for several years before she and Jim started and built one of the most successful home business with a billion dollar company, Melaleuca, Inc. Over the last 19 years she and Jim have traveled to 16 different countries, visited almost all 50 states and gone on 11 different cruises because of the business they were able to build together. Mary Martha and Jim were sealed for time and all eternity in the Rexburg, Idaho LDS Temple in October of 2009. Her greatest love and joy was her daughter, Michelle Marie McCune and Michelle's daughters, Lauren Nicole and Casey Marie. She was a great example of service and a mentor to many people throughout the United States and Canada. After being diagnosed with cancer several years ago, Mary Martha faced her illness with tremendous courage and grace. In recent months, despite her pain, she welcomed every visitor and took every opportunity to lift the spirits of those who were trying to lift hers.
Although she will be greatly missed we are comforted to know that we will be together again and that she is the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Surviving are her husband, Jim McCune; daughter, Michelle, of Cross Lanes; granddaughters, Lauren Nicole French (Dakkota) Albaugh of Cannelton, WV and Casey Marie French of Cross Lanes. Brothers, Robert A. Mitchell, Jr. (Ann) and their daughters, Amy and Heather, Columbus, OH; John W. Mitchell (Joanne), Steamboat Springs, CO. and their daughters, Marti and Marissa; sisters, Celia Mitchell, Steamboat Springs, CO. and her daughter, Alexa, Roberta K. Mason Hoover Blevins age 85 passed away August 26, 2014 at the Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson. He was born in Pageton, WV and grew up in Leslie, WV the son of the late Eli Calvin and Janie Wilson Blevins. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served three years. His last station was Roswell, New Mexico. He married Bonnie Martin in 1946 (should be 1964) and they made their home in Leslie, WV where he worked in the coal mines for thirty years. They moved to Henderson in 1990. He was very active in his grandchildren’s lives and was a car enthusiast. Mr. Blevins is survived by his wife, Bonnie Martin Blevins of Henderson; two daughters, Kimberly Rainey of Jacks Creek and Beverly Gee of Henderson and a son, Richard Lathers of Lansing, Michigan; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren and a sister, Edith Ellison of Rupert, WV. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ann Blevins in 1958; two brothers, Vermont Blevins and Junior Blevins and three sisters, Frances Canpogna, Berdie Patterson and Hazel Fite. Stewart of Huntington, and Mary Lou Durham of Charleston; son, Byron W. Davis of Charleston; seven grandchildren; and six, with one on the way, great-grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thank you to Select Specialty Hospital staff. They saved her life in June, which allowed her to spend several more weeks with family and loved ones, including beloved pastor, Norm Cannada. We are grateful to have been present as she peacefully went to be with our Lord. on July 11, 2010.2
