Born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Indiana, he was a son of the late Herbert and Evelyn Pangburn Nachand. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with rank of SP4. Donald went on to college for the next eight years to become a psychologist and worked at the Eastern Shore State Hospital for many years. On April 14, 1977, he married the former Rilla Cook and they have remained living in the area. Donald enjoyed playing tennis, watching football and reading books, many times seven books per week. Loving his wife was what he enjoyed the most. Surviving him, besides his wife, are two daughters, Carol McAllister and husband, Matt, of Kentucky, Rebecca Wheatley and husband, Mark, of Trappe; two sons, Bill Nachand and wife, Debi, of Clearwater, Fla., and Matt Moore and wife, Lisa, of Port Deposit, Md; sister, Norma Gage and husband, Walt, of Sugarloaf, Fla; and grandchildren, Sarah Moore, Megan Moore and Zeb Wheatley. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Nachand, Matt Moore, Jason James and John Wyatt. A graveside service will be held Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park in Cambridge. Officiating will be Pastor Chuck and Sandy Hudson. on April 6, 2012.1

Goins, 33, of Beckley, who was found dead in a local hotel about 6:30 p.m. Monday. Dr. Ralph Mosteller, Raleigh county coroner, said after an au topsy yesterday that Goins succumbed to a coronary occlusion. The Rev. B. C. Jennings and the Rev. Huffman will officiate with interment to follow in Calfee Cemetery at Mount Tabor. Born at Paint Creek, Goins was the son of L. A. and Flora Thomas Goins. He was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County and a veteran of World War II. In addition to his father he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Cook Goins, of Beckley; two brothers, Okey B. Goins, of Beckley and Lacy B. Goins, of Bellepoint; two sisters, Mrs. Faunda Grimse, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Ursola Jennings, of Baltimore, Md; two half brothers, E. E. Miller, of Hinton, and V. R. Miller, of Beckley and two half sisters, Mrs. Eva Mitchem, of Beckley, and Mrs. Cleo Bair, of Baltimore, Md. on March 22, 1950.5

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Boone-Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mr. Hamons was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 12, 1958, a son of Guy Edley and Norma Long Hamons. He was formerly a warehouse shipping manager. He was a member of Stoneville Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served in the men's ministry and sang in the choir. He is survived by his wife, Teena Hamons of the home; his sons, Jimmie Lee "J.L." Hamons, Jr. and Adam Wayne Hamons, both of Eden; his parents, Guy and Norma Hamons of Peterstown, West Virginia; his sisters, Linda Grice and husband Ken of Baltimore, Maryland, Diana Smith and husband Burl of Peterstown, West Virginia, and Brenda Sue Allen of Kansas; his brother, Mickey Hamons and wife Jenelle of Eden; and several nieces and nephews.1 He was buried at Evergreen Memory Gardens, 7901 US 158, Reidsville, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.1,2 He married Teena Marie Unknown.1 Jimmie Lee Hamons Sr. was born on July 12, 1958 at Baltimore, Maryland.1,2 He died on July 22, 2009 at Eden, Rockingham Co., North Carolina, at age 51.1,2
