Rick was a retired foreman with The West Virginia American Water Company with 30 years of service. He was a former member of the Board of Directors with the United Way Foundation and was a volunteer with the United Food Operation, former member of the West Virginia Labor Council and a member of the AFL-CIO. He attended Charleston Mountain Mission and loved spending time at Gary Thomas Camp and spreading the Lord's Gospel. Preceding Rick in death were his parents, Romie and Doris Burdette, brother, Larry Burdette, and foster mothers, Ann and Mary Coats of Kanawha City. Survivors include his son, Richard A. Burdette Jr. of Charleston; daughter, Deana Lyun Burdette of Charleston; brother, Phillip Burdette of Charleston; sisters, Carol Jones of Dunbar, Loretta Thomas of Charleston and Jacquelyn Boggess of Charleston; grandchildren, Blake Burdette, Rikayla Coiner, Ricky Lee Bowles and Eathan Holmes. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, with Pastor Roger Reed officiating. Committal services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mausoleum Chapel at the Cemetery. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico.
