He first worked for the Brick Yards in Orviston, and then Sylvania of Mill Hall, and then Clinton Paper Company. He retired from the Instrument Repair Shop of the Hammermill Paper Company in 1986. John was an avid sports fan and loved baseball and the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed attending the Blanchard School reunions and in his earlier years was an avid hunter. He enjoyed playing the guitar and had been in a band when he was younger He is survived by a daughter, Joni Gale Borger (Owen), of Moshannon; three sisters-in-law, Judith Dunkle, Eleanor Condo, "Bootie" Condo and Ruth Heichel; two brothers-in-law, Richard Condo and Donald (Mona) Condo; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Heichel. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. on June 27, 2011.3

Ruth Mae Lucas Ruth M. Heichel, 85, of Lock Haven, formerly of Blanchard, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Haven Skilled Rebab facility in Lock Haven. She was born on May 15, 1930 in Howard, a daughter of the late Raymond and Bertha Bittner Lucas. On July 26,1950 She was united in marriage to Richard Heichel, he preceded her in death on January 11, 2005. Ruth graduated from Howard High School and pursued her desire to help others, especially the elderly, by enrolling in nursing school. Upon completion of her training she was employed at Leaderer Nursing Home in Jersey Shore for many years. She had also been employed at Woolrich. She had attended the Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard. Ruth was a former member of the Lock Haven Moose Club as well as the Castanea Fire Company. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She took great pleasure in helping the elderly. Ruth is survived by two daughters; Kathy L. Peters of Howard, and Joan L. Jordan of Hazleton, three sons; Randy G. and John R. both of Mill Hall, and Joel F. Heichel of Jacksonville, Fl., four sisters; Dorothy Gardner and June Heverly of Howard, Martha Wise of Lock Haven, and Gerry Miller of Spring Mills. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by 2 brothers; Marvin and Dean Lucas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, with Rev. Dr. Christopher Davis officiating. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until services on Monday. Condo, of Mill Hall; and a sister, Judie C. Dunkle, of Lock Haven. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Howard and Marsden Condo. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. on March 24, 2008.2
