In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Della Cousins McIlwain; his second wife, Doris McIlwain; a daughter, Colleen McIlwain; brothers, W.L.D. McIlwain, Donald McIlwain and Bill McIlwain; and a sister, Anna Lee McIlwain.
