He was born on March 25, 1930, in Clarion, Pa., to his parents, the late Chape and Helen Porter. He retired in 1999 from M.K. Morris Co. after 15 years of service. He was a member of the former Trinity Lutheran Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Porter. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Betty) Porter of Louisville and William Porter of Lake Milton, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy (Rick) McBride of Minerva and Rachel Porter of Massillon; two grandsons, Andrew Porter of Fort Myers, Fla., and Jeremy Porter of Zanesville, Ohio; a brother, Lewis Porter of Canton; and a sister, Vera Dills of Canton. There are many nieces, nephews and cousins also suriving. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, with Pastor John Telloni officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. on March 23, 2011.4

Porter died on November 19, 2015 at Canton, Stark Co., Ohio, at age 80.4,3 She Vera Dills, age 80, of Canton passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 19, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, following a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born in Canton, Ohio February 15, 1935, to the late Chape and Helen Porter. Vera was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Gerald Dills, and her brothers Lawrence and Clyde Porter. She is survived by her children: Jerry Dills, and Patty (Mike) Eneix of the home. Her memory is also cherished by her grandchildren: Tara (Joe) Craig of Canton; Jeff Eneix of Canton; eight great-grandchildren, her brother Dr. Lewis Porter of Canton; her sister in law Jessie (Allen) Brown of Marble, NC; Mark Eneix, who adopted Vera as his own mom; and many nieces and nephews. Vera was a true care giver; she loved her family with all her heart and always had room for everyone at Sunday night dinners, and Holiday gatherings. She was also an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, and will be missed by many friends there. The family would like to express their great appreciation to the staff of the Aultman Companionate Care for their wonderful loving care they gave to Vera. They would also like to give a very special thank you to nieces Rachel Porter, and Kathy McBride, for all their special care they gave to their Aunt Vera. A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date. on November 21, 2015.3

He was a member of the NRA and a Trustee for the Cooksburg Cemetery Association. He enjoyed farming and horse and tractor pulls. Bill is survived by a brother F. Calvin Bigley and his wife, Elaine of Knox and a nephew, David Calvin Bigley, of Knox. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Catherine Smathers. Friends and family may call on Sunday, November 9, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, November 10 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Coul, pastor of Knox United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Cooksburg Cemetery. on November 7, 2014.1
