Lewis, 87, Bloomsburg, formerly of Ulysses, died Sunday (June 9, 1968) in Bloomsburg Hospital of complications following a lengthy illness. He was born in Ulysses, March 15, 1881, a son of the late C. A. and Kate Cushing Lewis. Mr. Lewis attended schools in Ulysses and Coudersport and was graduated from Peddie School, Hightstown, N.J., in 1903, and attended Brown and Cornell Universities. Although he worked in the Auditor General's office in Harrisburg, he later returned to Potter County to raise seed potatoes. During WWI, Mr. Lewis was an inspector for the U.S. Navy at the A.C. and F. at Berwick, Pa. Later he helped organize the Central Forging Co. of Catawissa which subsequently became the Maxi Manufacturing Co., and Catawissa Valve and Fitting Co. He served as sales manager. Failing health forced him to retire in 1953. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bloomsburg in which he was ruling elder. He was a member of Ulysses Lodge, F.&.A.M., 32nd degree Mason of Bloomsburg Scottish Rite Lodge, and charter and life member of the Lion's Club. Mr. Lewis and his wife, the former Winifred Beckley, had been married 55 years. Surviving besides his wife are a son, George, Natchitoches, La; a daughter, Mrs. Eugenie Swisher, New Cumberland; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 12. Interment was in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. on June 19, 1968.2

Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from his home, 218 Hamilton street, conducted by the Rev. B. H. Hart. The body will be taken to Bloomsburg by C. H. Mauk, where interment will be made. on September 30, 1909.2
