He was a member of Ira Lou Spring Post American Legion 149, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, American Association of Retired Persons, and West Ellicott-Celoron Senior Citizens, was formerly a member of War Vets Recreation and American Red Cross and on the board of the Christmas Friendship Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary C. Bond whom he married June 26, 1976; a son David L. Bloom of, Jamestown; three stepsons: James M. Rath of Xenia, Ohio, Steven W. Rath of Florence, S.C., and David R. Rath of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Jeff Bloom of Jamestown and Sgt. Richard Bloom of Hill Air Force Base Utah; two step-granddaughters: Jodi Brooks of Fairfield, Ohio, and Kristina Cimino of Xena; a step-great-granddaugher; and two brothers: Ralph D. Bloom of Buffalo and Russel O. Bloom of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, May Hulings who died in 1963; sister, Nellie Wescott, in 1985; and a brother, George A. Bloom, in 1982. The funeral will at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Lind Funeral Home.
