Emily grew up in Roxborough, Philadelphia, attended Wissahickon Presbyterian Church and studied Dental Hygiene at Temple University. During WWII she lived at Camp Pickett West Virginia and worked in a dental clinic. Her patients came from four infantry division staging areas. Later she worked at the Richmond Army Base where her patients were fighter pilots. While there she had the liberty to witness to them about Jesus, with their mouths open they were a captive audience. In 1945 she was transferred to McGuire General Hospital US Army base where she was not permitted to talk about the Lord and she resigned.Emily came to know Jesus as a young woman and for the rest of her life she was a bold warrior for the Lord. She served him by teaching Sunday school, Child Evangelism Fellowship, supporting many missionaries and their families and providing scholarships for Christian students. She also supported a host of Hebrew Christian organizations including Friends of Israel, Israel my Glory and various Messianic groups. Emily and her first husband William Tammelin, a chemist, married after WWII and had two boys together. He died from a brain tumor at age of 37. In Tennessee, Emily and her second husband, Hazen Jones sang as a duet in many local churches until his death in 1976. In Florida her late husband, Paul Seiler served as a deacon at Starkey Road Baptist Church and they were involved in many Bible study groups. She practiced Dental Hygiene for 38 years in Philadelphia, the Veterans Hospital at Bay Pines, Florida and in Hixson and Red Bank, Tennessee. Until the age of 85 when affected by viral encephalitis Emily was active in her community helping elderly friends to doctor visits, giving advice and always witnessing. For the past 5 years she resided in San Clemente where she shared her joy and happiness with her family and the residents and visitors at the Silverado adult day program. Emily is survived by son, Bruce Tammelin MD; daughter-in-law, Carol and four grandchildren; Stephanie Sherman (husband Kurtis), Gregory, Eric and Courtney, and one precious great grandson Jared Sherman. In Philadelphia she leaves nieces, Patricia Saddler and Karen Pezza, their mother Josephine Young and their children Connie, Steve, Joe and Jack. She is also survived by her nephew, Gregory Tyson and his father Ernest Tyson. She leaves her stepchildren, Rachel, Miriam, and Becky, and Ramona Ann Cornelson, and her children in Georgi. Emily was preceded in death by her younger son, Neil Brian Tammelin, whose wife, Lorine and son Robby still live in Florida, and recently by her brother, Jack Young. Interment and a memorial service will be held at West Laurel Hill Cemetery near Roxborough, Pennsylvania. Her unforgettable smile and caring ways will be sorely missed, but we know that Emily is in her mansion in heaven with many, many stars in her crown and at last with her loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. on September 13, 2007.10
