In addition to her parents, she is survived by her twin sister, Kathleen Grace Guilliams; grandparents, Cecil and Bertha Guilliams, Roanoke, Frances Smith, Rocky Mount; great-grandfather, Walter Hodges, Rocky Mount. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and other family members. Graveside services will be conducted at the Hall Family Cemetery, 2 p.m. Saturday with Brian Custer officiating. on October 1, 1994.⁴

She was born Nov. 30, 1924, a daughter of the late John Frank and Olga LeBahn Clarkson. As a young girl she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Herman and Amanda Abraham, of Ramona, S.D. Mrs. Crawford was the owner and operator of the A & B Beauty Shop in Clifton Forge, for 55 years. She was an active charter member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Covington, Va., and served the church in various capacities for most of her adult life. Since moving to Newport News she joined Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tabb. She was a member of the state and national cosmetologist associations. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Craft and Virona Beyer, and one brother, Eldon Clarkson. She is survived by two daughters, Andrea Hardiman and her husband, Wil, of Pleasant Hope, Mo., Shelby Gibson and her husband, Hugh "Buzzy" of Poquoson; four brothers, Lloyd Clarkson of Maywood, Calif., Emery Clarkson and his wife, Gena, of Free Union, Va., Bruce Clarkson and his wife, Jean, of Covington, and Raymond Clarkson and wife, Pat, of Memphis, Tenn; two grandchildren, Jennifer Duggins and husband, Jackie, of Burleson, Texas, and Daniel Gibson of Poquoson; and two great-grandchildren, Sidney Duggins and Christian Pelton, both of Burleson, Texas. Special thanks for the kindness shown by her caregivers, Dorothy Mann and Margaret Moore. on February 16, 2002.⁴

     Ida Octavia Austin was buried at Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.^4,5 Her Social Security Number was 231-14-2235.⁶ She was born on May 24, 1909 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2,6,3 As of March 6, 1937,her married name was Richards.¹ She married William Otis Richards, son of Robert Edward Richards and Vina Jane "Vinnie" Sowder, on March 6, 1937 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.¹ Ida Octavia Austin died on December 31, 1996 at Barco, Currituck Co., North Carolina, at age 87.^2,6,5 She Ida Octavia Richards, formerly of Norfolk, died Dec. 31, 1996, in a Barco nursing home. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Hanna; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A graveside funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Danny Campbell. on January 3, 1997.⁵

Mrs. Hanna was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by her husband, Richard Hanna; a son, Buddy Hanna of West End, N.C; a daughter, Julie Owens of Knotts Island; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A church service will be conducted at noon Wednesday in the New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3310 Indian River Road, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Daniel Campbell. Interment will follow in Rosewood Chapel Memorial Park. on January 14, 1997.⁶

Mr. Hanna was a self-employed contractor. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, 32nd Degree Mason and attended New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was recently preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Jean Hanna. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Owens and her husband, Shelby, of Knotts Island; a son, Richard P. Hanna III and his wife, Lisa, of West End, N.C; two sisters, Barbara Ann Sellers of Coinjock, N.C., Addie Nelson of Maple, N.C; and four grandchildren with one expecting. on August 23, 1997.³
