He was manager of the Standard Oilers semi-pro baseball team out of Middletown from 1950 to 1960. They won the Indiana State Tournament in 1955 and then placed seventh in the National tournament. He is survived by his son, Randy (wife, Gail) Hale of Middletown; daughter, Bridget Hawley of Fishers; three grandchildren, Sara (husband, Lawrence) Filler of Middletown, Brian (wife, Bailey) Hale of Hixson, Tenn., and Jamie (husband, Brandon) Miller of Fishers; three great-grandchildren, Levi Filler, Evan Filler and Kaylee Miller; brother, Bill (wife, Jane) Hale of Anderson; nephew, Jay Hale; and niece, Merilee Bluel. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. John Abshear and Dr. Phillip Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Middletown. on April 1, 2010.3
