She is survived by her daughter, Nora Whitlow Palmer, Haines City; sons, James Whitlow, Grayson Whitlow, both of Haines City; stepdaughter, Louise Stafford, Parisburg, Va; brothers, Elliott Harrell, Robert W. Harrell, both of Maryland; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City. on June 22, 2006.¹

Va., she was a Legal Secretary and formerly worked for Session & Fishman Law Firm and Reed & Reed Law Firm. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell. on June 3, 2007.⁵

     Janet E. Smith Janet Smith Herndon, 66, of Paul Payne Store Road, Taylorsville died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the residence. She was born February 1, 1944 in Kellysville, West VA, the daughter of Rev. Allen F. Smith and Faye Whitlow Smith of Lake Wales, Florida. She was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Mr. Joseph and Bertha Herndon along with her sister, Donette Neinaber. She was a member of Taylorsville Presbyterian Church. Through out her professional life she worked as a secretary for the District Attorney's office in Orlando, Florida, Alexvale Furniture in Taylorsville and Alexander County Department of Social Sevices before retiring. Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband of 46 years, Mr. Francis "Frank" Paul Herndon of the home; one daughter, Sherri Lynn Troup and husband, John "Guppy" Troup of Taylorsville; one son, Bryan Allen Herndon and wife, Cindy Herndon of Taylorsville; four grandsons, Kyle Paul Marshall Troup, Tyler Douglas Troup, Justin Perry and Cameron Perry all of Taylorsville; one sister, Calida Crawford of Dundee, Florida; three brothers-in-law, Mr. William Herndon and wife Evelyn Herndon of Valdosta, Georgia, Mr. Edmond Herndon of Michigan and Pete Neinaber of Slidell, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at Taylorsville Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will follow in the church memorial garden.³ She was buried at Taylorsville City Cemetery, Taylorsville, Alexander Co., North Carolina.³ She was born on February 1, 1944 at Kellysville, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^3,6 As of circa 1964,her married name was Herndon.³ She married Francis Paul "Frank" Herndon circa 1964.^3,4 Janet E. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Calida Crawford of Pasadena; one daughter, Jennifer Crawford of Pasadena; two brothers, Darryl Crawford of Dallas, Tex. and David Crawford of Ponchatoula; four sisters, Mrs. Esther Meggison of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Judy Longlois of New Orleans, Mrs. Darline Maklary of Covington Mrs. Dorcus Joiner of Bogalusa; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Crawford of Rayville. Pallbearers will be W. Stockton, W. T. Crawford, W. H. Crawford, Don Crawford, Kenneth Crawford and L. E. Watson. on January 12, 1977.¹
