Salgado died on May 10, 2019 at Charleston, Charleston Co., South Carolina, at age 88.2 She CHARLESTON - John W (Bill) McCartney and Frances R McCartney John W. ( Bill ) McCartney LCDR USN (Ret.) of Charleston SC entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2019. He was married to the love of his life Frances R. McCartney who entered into eternal rest on May 10, 2019. They were married for 67 years. Bill was born June 8, 1930 in Bradenton, Florida and Frances was born July 24, 1930 in Miami, Florida. Bill proudly served his country for 25 years in the United States Navy. We was a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Navy, he was the Public Safety Chief at the College of Charleston before moving to a long career at Monarch Building Supply. He was an honorary member of the South Carolina Sheriff's Association and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer and a member of The Santee Super Seniors Golf Club. Frances was a loving ,caring wife and mother. She loved music and dancing and had a wonderful sense of humor. She worked for many years at Sears and then Joli Maternity wear helping expectant mothers with their wardrobe. She was also a Red Cross volunteer for a period of time. They are survived by three children all of Charleston. Rosanne Burke (Wes), Bill McCartney (Tina), and Mary McCartney. Eight Grandchildren and Sixteen Great-Grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 18, 2019 at Seacoast Church 2049 Savannah Hwy Charleston SC 29407. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to noon with a memorial service immediately following. Interment will be at Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 3093 Ashley River Rd. Charleston SC 29414 at 3:00 pm. on May 15, 2019.2
