Born Feb. 11, 1919, at Maple Meadow, W.Va., he was the son of the late Hiram and Lilly Tolliver Wood. Corbet enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, remodeling, and was a master piddler. He was a retired coal miner and attended the Midway Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Ruble; and three brothers, Henry Davis Wood, Billy Kenneth Wood, and Cleo Ralph "Dutch" Wood. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 70 years, Virginia Marsh Wood of Midway; five sons, Tyrone, Jim, Kenny, Ronald, and Larry; three daughters, Velma, Billie, and Betty; one brother, Jerry; four sisters, Garnet, Mary Jane, Bertha, and June; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia, with Rev. Richard Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Shrewsberry Cemetery at Maple Meadow. on December 12, 2008.4

She also enjoyed bird watching, collecting rocks on the beach, tending to her many flowers, and helping others. She faithfully read the Bible every day and used it to guide her entire life. She is survived by 3 sisters Bertha Guilliams, June Williams, MaryJane Mackenzie and one brother Jerry Wood. Seven grandchildren Lester Debolt, Jason Roestel, Joshua Roestel, Serena Kiblinger, Joseph Kiblinger Derrick Hatfield, and Jesse Roestel plus 5 great-grandchildren. on May 27, 2015.3
