Born February 20, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Stanford Roland Shearer, Sr. and Lillian Nace. Stanford was active with the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce, he would volunteer at least one Sunday a month at Smith Mountain Lake Runk & Pratt and he was an active member of Hales Ford Baptist Church.
