Covington, 66, of Tifton, formerly of Whitfield and Gordon counties, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Covington was born in Gordon County on March 5, 1947, son of the late Hautis Roy "Hoyt" Covington and Lottie Marion Wilson Covington. He had resided in Tifton for the past nine years, moving there from Dalton. Mr. Covington was a drafter and engineer, retiring from Shaw Industries. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mr. Covington was an avid fan of dirt track racing and enjoyed traveling, antique automobiles and race cars. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald Dixon. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ann Reeves Covington of Tifton; sons, Scott Covington of Rome and Jeremy Covington of Chattanooga; one daughter, Cammie Causey of Adairsville; one grandchild, Olivia Covington of Chattanooga; sisters, Bobbie Dixon of Dalton and Betty Hackel and her husband Tim of Mableton; niece, Kimberly Isenhower of Dalton; great-niece, Amber Stephens of Dalton; and a special aunt, Carrie Gallman of Calhoun. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Clayton officiating. Interment will be in Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, P.O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31794, or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284. on May 17, 2013.1
