     Howard Taft "Junior" Church Jr. Mr. Howard Taft Church, Jr., better known as “Junior”, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 15, 2018 at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Dwayne Andrews, Reverend Sherrill Wellborn, and Reverend David Wellborn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Junior was born August 1, 1934 in Wilkes County to Howard Taft Church, Sr. and Lessie Verlie Dunn Church. He was the owner of Church’s Used Cars and a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church. He was an avid lover of history and western movies. A good Rook game was his favorite pastime. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Madeline Church Welborn and Merle Dean Church. Junior is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jackie Winkler Church, of the home; two daughters, Denise Church Sidden of Wilkesboro and Michelle Church Isom and husband, Dale, of Wilkesboro; a son, Douglas Howard Church and Ashley of Wilkesboro; four grandchildren, Nicole Deal Slate and husband, Johnny, of Erie, PA, Dustin Deal and wife, Whitney, of Wilkesboro, Daniel Isom and Katie of Millers Creek, and Caitlen Isom Wurdeman and husband, Matthew, of Elkin; six great-grandchildren, Lilly Slate, Juliana Isom, Will Slate, Glory Maeve Deal, Maggie Slate and Mercer Deal; one sister, Kathleen Church Ellis and husband, Bill, of Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews.1 He was buried at Lewis Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, 395 Lewis Fork Baptist Church Road, Purlear, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.1 He was born on August 1, 1934 at Wilkes Co., North Carolina.1 He married Jackie Winkler circa 1958.1 Howard Taft "Junior" Church Jr. died on January 13, 2018 at age 83.1
