Mr. Foster was born March 29, 1923 in Wilkes County to A. G., Sr. and Roxie Mary Fairchild Foster. He was a salesman for Quality Building Supply and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Mr. Foster served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Foster was the youngest of fourteen children. All his siblings have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Elledge Foster of the home and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. She was born March 23, 1931, in Wilkesboro, a daughter of the late Troy and Gladys Cardwell Foster. Mrs. Smith was a retired nurse and a member of First Baptist Church in Wilkesboro. Survivors include one son, Thomas T. Smith of Boone; one brother, Dainard Foster of Washington State; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Johnson "Johnny" Smith; two sisters, Doretta Ivey and Fern Whisnant; and two brothers, T.C. Foster and Tom Foster. Services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state at the chapel from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Dr. David Luster. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock at Hampton Funeral Service, prior to the service. Hampton Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements. on August 11, 2009.²

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Aleen Foster Smith of the home; one son, Thomas T. "Tom" Smith of Boone; one sister, Dora Ruff of Mebane, North Carolina, and one brother, David E. Smith of Statesville. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas B. and Thelma Harless Smith, and one brother, Joseph Barrington Smith. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Johnson "Johnny" Smith will be conducted Sunday afternoon, October 12, 2008, at 2:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.
