Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Kent Eller officiating. Entombment, with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard, will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the Mountlawn Memorial Mausoleum Chapel from 1 until 2 Wednesday afternoon prior to the service. Mr. Bumgarner was born in Wilkes County, Jan. 24, 1922, to W.P. and Belva Triplett Bumgarner. He served in the Air Force during World War II. Mr. Bumgarner retired from the Wilkes County School System after 20 years of service. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Masonic Lodge No. 573 for 60 years. Mr. Bumgarner is survived by two sons, Charles R. Bumgarner and Johnny R. Bumgarner, both of Millers Creek; and one brother, Jene C. Bumgarner of Millers Creek. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wilkes, 1908 West Park Drive, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659; or to the donor's choice. The family also asks that people visit a shut in. on February 6, 2012.2

He graduated from Guilford College in 1967. Bob and Greer were married in Greensboro in 1969. Bob was employed with Lowe's Companies in North Wilkesboro for 27 years. After retiring, he and Greer returned to Greensboro to reside. With his charming smile, knack for conversation and deep sense of integrity, Bob made immediate, lifelong friends upon introduction. His quick wit and unwavering positive nature brightened so many days for family, friends and strangers alike. Bob loved the outdoors, fly fishing and golfing. As an avid reader, Bob enjoyed wowing others with his trivia knowledge. Surviving Bob is his wife of 48 years, Greer; his daughter, Dee Bumgarner Campbell and husband David of Charlotte; his son, Will Bumgarner and wife Samantha of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Greer, Griffin and Rebecca Campbell and Clara and Rex Bumgarner; his two brothers, Bill and Donald Bumgarner; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with Reverend Ginny Bain Inman and Reverend Russell Ingersoll officiating. 607 Greene Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. Following the service the family will visit with friends in the church's Haywood Duke Room. Bob's family expresses their sincerest thanks to the outstanding team of doctors and caregivers at Moses H. Jene was born on June 24, 1925 in the Mt. Pleasant Community of Wilkes County, NC to the late William Percy Bumgarner and Belva Triplett Bumgarner. Jene served in the Fourth Marine Division of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific and was a veteran of the Battle of Iwo Jima. He attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and owned an electrical contracting business for 25 years. He later served as the Wilkes County Electrical Inspector until his retirement. Jene was a charter member of Millers Creek Baptist Church and was a past member of Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge #573. In addition to his parents, Jene was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Brewer Bumgarner; brothers, Howard Charles Bumgarner and Rex Coolidge Bumgarner; and infant brother, Billy Cline Bumgarner. Jene is survived by his son, Ken Bumgarner (Cathy) of Huntersville, NC; daughter, Debbie Taylor (Robert) of Davidson, NC; five grandchildren, Erin Goettsch (Mark) of Raleigh NC; Ashley Grice (John) of Mount Holly, NC; Brad Bumgarner (Marija) of Bluffton, SC; Meredith Chapman (Will) of Charlotte, NC; Brandon Taylor (Emily) of Charlotte, NC; two step-grandchildren, Collin Fales of Hilton Head, SC; Sean Fales of Huntersville, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan Goettsch, Anneliese Goettsch, Charlotte Goettsch, Liam Grice, Sullivan Grice, Everett Grice, Ashby Lee Chapman, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home chapel, North Wilkesboro, NC, with The Reverend Eddie Tharpe officiating. Military Honors will be given by the Marine Corps League, Brushy Mountain Detachment 1187 at Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, North Wilkesboro, N.C. The family will receive visitors at Reins-Sturdivant from 12:00 - 1:30 pm prior to the funeral. Brad Bumgarner, Brandon Taylor, Mark Goettsch, John Grice, Will Chapman, Collin Fales, Sean Fales, and nephews, Bill Bumgarner, Bob Bumgarner, Donald Bumgarner, Charles Bumgarner, will serve as pallbearers.
