     Carl Robert Henry Dent Jr. Carl Robert Henry Dent, Jr. age 71, of Roanoke went home to his heavenly father’s home on Thursday, August 22, 2019. Carl had served in the U.S. Navy in the 60’s having been stationed in Viet Nam. After a short life of being a civilian, Carl re-joined the U.S. Navy and served diligently until his retirement in September 30, 1992. Carl served in Iran during the Gulf War in the 1990’s when the Shah disposed. During his time in the Navy, Carl held many jobs included a recruiter, which he enjoyed very much, and he was stationed on the USS Dalhgren. He was born to the late Carl Robert Henry Dent, Sr. and Imogene Custer Dent on March 17, 1948. Also, preceding him in death is his brothers, Barry Steven Dent and Bryan Wesley Dent; sister, Joy Belinda Dent. Carl is survived by his daughter, Patricia Dent Kniatt, and her husband Joey; grandchildren, Briar Marie, Hank and Joey Kniatt; brother, John Dent, and his wife, Charlotte; sisters, Cathy Dent Carr, and Karen Greer, and her husband, Robert; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many loving friends. At Carl’s request, services will be held privately.⁴ He was born on March 17, 1948 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2,4 He married Joan Marie Schaumburg on February 19, 1983 at Richmond, Virginia.¹ Carl Robert Henry Dent Jr. and Joan Marie Schaumburg were divorced on September 7, 1999 at Henrico Co., Virginia.³ Carl Robert Henry Dent Jr. died on August 22, 2019 at Virginia at age 71.⁴

     Joy Belinda Dent was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.³ She was born on April 4, 1956 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,7 She died on April 13, 2008 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 52.^7,2,3 She Our beautiful Joy Belinda Dent, 52, of Roanoke, has courageously fought a long, hard battle with cancer. Today that battle ceased. She passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008. She was a devoted employee of Stop In for 17 years as a cashier, and loved doing the paperwork. From our loving embrace to arms of the angels, she has taken flight to the Kingdom of Glory. There with open arms as our Heavenly Father watches she will fall into the arms of her daddy, Carl R. Dent Sr. Also preceding her in death are grandparents, Elmer and Ida Dent, Bryan and Clairmond Custer; brotherin-law, Ronald Carr Sr. and niece, Cassandra. Left to cherish her memory are her children, James Dent, Shaun Dent, Andrew Williams, Joshua Williams and Tim Bolin; mother, Imogene C. Hickam; four brothers, Carl Dent Jr., Barry Dent, John Dent and wife, Charlotte, and Wesley Dent and wife, Cathie; two sisters, Karen Greer and husband, Robert, and Cathy Carr; special niece and great-niece, Robin and Talia Quintana; in addition to numerous other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; a host of cousins; longtime friend, Jody; and her Stop In family and customers. Joy will be missed, loved and thought of by us all. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in the Roanoke Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home with interment to follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lotz Roanoke Chapel. on April 15, 2008.³

     Barry Steven Dent was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, 1300 Mountain View Road, Vinton, Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁴ He Barry "DENT" Steven Dent, 58 of Roanoke on Friday, May 27, 2016 an Angel slipped in while our backs were turned and took our baby brother home to Heaven. We started out as seven, now we are five. Barry joined his sister, Joy in Heaven along with Our Daddy, Carl Dent, Sr. He was an avid sports fan, Minnesota was his team. He would sit on the front porch in the summer with the window up and the TV blaring. When he wasn’t or there wasn’t a game on the TV he would listen to them on the radio. Barry would give you a helping hand on any task, you just needed to ask him for help. Somewhere along the road of Barry’s life journey where he was energetic I noticed over time the changes. He was not his self, he didn’t have the same energy or zest for life. Though if asked……….he would say, “I’m alright”. He was just 58 years old and he was the baby of seven. He leaves behind his mother, Imogene ; three brothers, Carl Dent, Jr., John “Butch” Dent and his wife Charlotte and Bryan Dent and his wife Cathie; two sisters, Cathy Carr and Karen Greer and her husband Robert; numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, great and great great nieces and nephews and many very special friends including his two buddies he grew up with, Dennis Barnett, Jessie Chisom and the Barnett family. Barry’s family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel, 627 Hardy Road, Vinton. Where a service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday at 2 PM in Oakey’s Chapel with Rev. Jamie Hutton officiating.      James Edward Andrews was buried at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery, 355 East Ridge Road, Franklin, Rowan Co., North Carolina.² He was born on April 25, 1949 at Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan.^2,3 He married Debra Jeanne Custer, daughter of Homer Granderson Custer and Lula Pearl Long, on August 29, 1977 at El Paso, El Paso Co., Texas.^1,2,3 James Edward Andrews died on July 10, 2008 at Salisbury, Rowan Co., North Carolina, at age 59.^1,2,3 He SALISBURY - James Edward Andrews, age 59, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Born April 25, 1949, in Flint, Mich., Mr. Andrews was a son of the late Donald Leroy Andrews and the late Erma Marjorie Hine. He was a graduate of Ainsworth High School in Michigan. He was a veteran on the U.S. Army and worked for Allied Waste as a front loader driver. Mr. Andrews was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he was on the church council and served as a Lay Assistant and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of Lutheran Men in Mission. Preceding him in death was his sister, Paula Bennett. Survivors include his wife, Debra Custer Andrews, whom he married Aug. 29, 1977; a son, Greg Perkins and Joyce of Apex; two brothers, Donald Andrews and Richard Andrews of Flint Michigan; and two grandchildren, Sara Almond and Candace Almond.
