Our beloved patriot, retired 1st Sergeant Riley Lee Turpin of Roanoke, Va., left this earthly world joining his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 80. Riley was a benevolent man who loved fiercely and gave generously to his family and loved God and country. He was kind, loving, and an honest man. He enjoyed exercising, running miles every day. A true American Hero, he culminated over 40 years of active duty in our nation's military—the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, and merchant Marine Corps. Riley was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on May 5, 1941, to the late Lewis William (Ben) Turpin and Frances Boulding Turpin. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Edd O. Hale Jr., and Lucille F. Hale. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Hale Turpin; brother, Edward W. Turpin and his family, David E.
