At age 17, she enlisted in the Cadet Nurse Corp. and received nurses training at the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital in Clifton Forge, VA. She worked there as medical supervisor before entering the University of Virginia where she earned a B.S. degree. She was also a member of the Lychnos Society at UVA. Mrs. Leitch was a long time member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church. "Ms. Mae", as she was affectionately known, began teaching school 30 years ago at Myers Park Presbyterian Church Weekday School until this summer when she was unable to do so. During this time, she touched the lives of hundreds of preschoolers and their parents. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Gilbert Leitch, Jr; brothers, Bill Glover and E. B. Glover, Jr., and brother-in-law, Creigh Nickell. She is survived by her sons, Ed Leitch and his wife Becky of Charlotte, NC and Steve Leitch and his wife Sue of Cary, NC; grandsons, Andrew Leitch, Mason Leitch and Logan Leitch; sisters, Marie Nickell of Lewisburg, WV, Violet Baker and her husband, Bill of Baltimore, Maryland, Margaret Jones, and her husband, Arnold of Roanoke, VA, sisters-in-law, Mary Glover of Lewisburg, WV and Irene Pearsall of Deltona, FL as well as many nieces and nephews. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Richmond, VA. on October 15, 2005.2

Laurel at the age of 86. Born in Delaware Twp. (now Cherry Hill Twp.) to the late Augustus and Daisy Lee (nee Metzger) Lowther, Doris was a longtime resident of Burlington Twp. She was employed for almost 30 years at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington Twp. She worked in a variety of capacities there including as a bus aide and teacher’s aide and also as a custodian. She was very proud to have earned her black seal license. She was a fixture at the school and was loved by staff and students alike. She also loved them, especially the children so working in the school was the perfect career for her. She was very artistic and enjoyed doing many arts and crafts projects. She especially loved flowers and tending to her yard and flower gardens was a passion for her. Doris was predeceased by her husband Norman R. Horn. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law; Diana and Robert Graham and Brenda and Edmund Woods, her grandchildren; Lauren, Ian, Neil, Kyle and Eddie. She is also survived by her sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.5 She was buried at Brigadier General William C. Mrs. Lowther was born in Roebling and was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Baco Getzi. She resided in Roebling before moving to Burlington Township in 1955. Mrs. Lowther was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Roebling, the Secular Franciscan Order, Holy Assumption Fraternity and Sts. Francis & Clare Parish Altar Rosary Society. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lowther, daughter, Linda Bertha Kampe and siblings, John, Mary & Andrew. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert D. & Sherrie Lowther, Cindy Lowther & Tony Maglaras and Lana & Fernando Pinho, grandchildren, Heather, Daniel, Shannon, David, Domenique, William, Sean, Scott & Jacqlyn, great grandchildren, Zachary, Rian, Laci, Adam, Lillian, Nathan, Brandon, Jordan, William, Samhain, Finn & Ben and many nieces & nephews.
