Howard was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church, a Master Mason with Abingdon Lodge No. 48, and a member of the Western Square Dance Club. His enjoyment was family, church, golf, hunting, and working on his lawn. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Montgomery McCormick and Flossie Lee Ball McCormick; brother, Herman McCormick Jr; sister, Billy Jo Seymore; brothers-in-law, Fred Seymore, Ernest Crenshaw, James Crabtree, and C.W. Kirk; and a special niece, Tracy Crabtree. He is survived by his wife, Betty Counts McCormick; one daughter, Den‚ Jane McCormick of Radford, Va; sister, Shirley Widner and husband, William; sisters-in-law, Dora Mae McCormick, June Crenshaw, Joyce Crabtree and Treva Kirk; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Howard McCormick will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, VA. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Pleasant View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wellmont Hospice, Home Health Division, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620; Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 18416 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA 24210; or one's charity of choice .
