Price died on February 6, 2011 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 85.^3,2 She Phyllis M. Shaffer, 85, of Rocky Fork went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 6, 2011. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of the Cross Lanes area. She was an active member of McKinnon Presbyterian Church since 1953 and had been an elder, Sunday school teacher, and choir member, as well as doing anything that was asked of her. Phyllis was a former member of the Tyler Mountain Homemakers, an artist, a seamstress and a quilter. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Lonzo F. Shaffer; daughters, Janet (Rick) Norris of Hurricane, Barbara (Jim) Skidmore of Cross Lanes and Jo Ann (Woody) Snyder of Clendenin; sister, Lola Underwood of Sissonville; and brothers Herbert Price of Sissonville and Willard Price of Ravenswood. Phyllis was blessed with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Phyllis' life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Minnerly officiating. Entombment will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Mausoleum. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to McKinnon Presbyterian Church, 4278 W. Washington St., Charleston, WV 25313. on February 8, 2011.²

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in Whitaker United Methodist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Mrs. Tew was born on February 1, 1939 in Clendinen, West Virginia to the late Garland Otis and Willa Violia Huffman Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Telmon Tew, as well as her parents.      James Washington "Jim" Groves Jr. was buried at Koontz Cemetery, Clendenin, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.² He was born on February 15, 1932 at Roane Co., West Virginia.^3,4 He married Reta Lanola Campbell, daughter of Garland Otis Campbell and Willia Violia Huffman, on December 27, 1957 at Roane Co., West Virginia.^1,2 James Washington "Jim" Groves Jr. died on May 5, 2014 at Ripley, Jackson Co., West Virginia, at age 82.^4,2 He James W. "Jim" Groves Jr., 82, of Sandyville, passed away Monday morning at Eldercare of Ripley following an extended illness. He was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Roane County, son of the late James W. and Goldie Elswick Groves. He retired from the scalping department of Ravenswood Aluminum following over three decades of service, loved the outdoors and loved helping his wife in her business, Rita's Antiques. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Reta Campbell Groves; son, Rodney Lee Groves (Robin) of Sandyville; grandchildren, Brittney Groves, Rodney James Groves and Bridget Groves Fulk; and sisters, Willadeen Payne of Walton and Sherry Smith of Clendenin. A service celebrating the life of Jim Groves will be held Wednesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home with Pastor Shannon Skeen officiating. Interment will follow the service at Koontz Cemetery, Clendenin. Friends may call at Waybright Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m on May 6, 2014.²

     Vivian Marie Jarrett Vero Beach, Fla. - Vivian Marie Jarrett Huffman, 73, of Vero Beach, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1997, in Indian River Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a waitress at Airport Restaurant, Vero Beach, and Humphrey's Dairy Bar, Charleston. Surviving: husband, Alexander Huffman; son, Edsel Huffman of St. Albans; brother, Paul Jarrett of Fayetteville, N.C; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, with Pastor Buddy Tipton officiating.² She was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, St. Lucie Co., Florida.² She was born on January 25, 1923.³ As of October 11, 1940,her married name was Huffman.¹ She married Alexander Jacob Huffman Jr., son of Alexander Jacob "Alex" Huffman and Flora V.
