She was predeceased by her husband, Sam McGee; her daughter, Rebecca McGee Allen; her brothers, Bill and Bob Pope; Betty is survived by her devoted son, David Todd McGee; daughter-in-law, Marcia DeWeese McGee; granddaughter, Samantha McGee Estep and her husband, Stephen Estep; two grandsons, Daniel and Jonny Mac Allen; great-grandson, Jacob Allen; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Pope; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Billy Todd Pope Billy Todd Pope, 89, of Roanoke County, Va. took his last breath here on and first breath in Heaven as he went to be home with the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2018. His parents, Albert and Mebus Pope; and brother, Robert A. Pope, preceded him. Billy was a graduate of William Fleming High School. He served proudly in the United States Air Force and the United States Air Force Reserve. He made many friends through his career involving the selling of automobile parts as Owner/Operator of B & R Auto Parts of Vinton, Va. Billy was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. He was a former member of Villa Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and on various committees, and enjoyed visiting the homebound and nursing homes where he strived to leave the people with a smile on their face. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Virginia "Jenny" Pope; sons, Michael (Teresa) Pope, Gerald (Pam) Pope; daughter, Jennie (Ronnie) Wood; six precious grandchildren, Todd Pope, Melody Pope, Jason (Jessica) Pope, Brandon Pope, Brian (Caitlin) Wood, Laura Wood; and a great grandchild due in May 2019. Along with a sister, Betty McGee and host of other relatives and friends. A service celebration Billy's life will be 10:30am, Monday, December 3, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Huffman officiating. He was born March 23, 1924 in Roanoke, and was the son of S.S. McGee Sr. and Rebecca Forsythe McGee. Sam was a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church and the Saville Friendship Sunday School Class. He served on the official board and was Financial Secretary for over 30 years. Mr. McGee was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was involved with the Invasion of Leyte in the Philippines, and Okinawa Japan. He retired from service as a Master Sergeant in the 24 Corps Medical Headquarters. He retired from Suntrust Bank in 1987 as an Assistant Vice President and manager of the Plaza Branch in the downtown office. Sam was a graduate of Roanoke College and the Rutgers University school of Banking. He served as President of the Roanoke Chapter of the American Institute of Banking and was associate Councilman for Southwest Virginia. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rebecca McGee Allen in 2010, and is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Pope McGee; his son, David Todd McGee; daughter-in-law, Marcia DeWeese McGee; granddaughter, Samantha Morgan McGee; two grandsons, Daniel and Jonathan Allen; and a great-grandson, Jacob Allen. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Oakey's South Chapel; Rev. Milton Marks and Rev. Roy Miller will officiate and interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery in Roanoke. on April 9, 2014.⁷
