Mr. Gray was born November 1, 1946, in Carroll County, VA, one of ten children born to the late Lawrence and Una Ethel Smith Gray. Leon was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He is survived by his spouse, Ginger Lauree Hiatt; four sons, Kenneth Dane Gray, Christopher Kirk Gray, Jamie Lee Gray, and Jonathan Mason Gray; two stepdaughters, Susan Annette Gravley and Jessica LeAnn Stone; a stepson, Justin Davis; two grandsons, Taylon Gray and Oxley Stone; three sisters, Perna Vernon, Peggy Scales, and Virginia Simicich; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Oma Gray, Don and Paula Gray, and Gary and Elaine Gray; and several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gray was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Pittman; and two brothers, Lindon Gray and J.P. "Pete" Gray. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Vassie Vaught officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Saint Paul Church of the Brethren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 429, Cana, VA 24317.
